Thats aweful. I dont wear it, I even thought about cutting the chord off and just leaving the clip on. Maybe I should reconsider.

I hate to cast doubt but I have to beleive alot of these accidents include alcohol (as in way to much) and/or unqualified, inexperienced divers. I would like to think that after my sets I can pop a few tops and deliver everyone back to the dock responsibly and safely. I had a cousin killed acouple years ago in Florida when a 21 year old girl driving an open bow where the cousin was, missed the boat lift and crushed her. No one drives my boat if I have any doubts about them.

If I were driving an Outboard boat then yes, but on my 230, no. You sit so far below the windsheild that there is pretty much no way you will get thrown from the boat.

You might want to rethink that Perry, guy I know not doing anything unusual (and sober) had a steering cable snap, boat turned hard and fast ejecting him, all good noone hurt but certainly put's a hole in your theory.

Now a days us guys who actually do real watersports with real ski boats need to worry about being ejected by the tsunami wakes of some rediculously ballasted barge, you might want to wear that lanyard.

We now interrupt your regularly scheduled program for a news break on what a "real" watersport is....

Was it a boat like this? If it was I could see how you could get easily ejected, but in todays wakeboats, like the G23 for example, the sides are so high it would be extremely hard.

I appreciate your post. I wear mine every time. I may look like a dork but I'm a safety freak.

Had two friends die due to an accident involving alcohol and boating.

As much as I'm in and out of the driver seat during sets there is no way I'm heck I'm strapping that thing on an off all the time! I'm all for safety and such, you would think there would be a better way to accomplish this, maybe a pressure switch in the seat with a timer or something.

one can't help but think about this . . .

Different situation then most of us are in I would assume, but still ... stuff happens. (action starts around the 2:16 mark)

Wow. This is a great example of why you don't stand up while driving WOT. It also amazes me how long it took for another boat to come over and help. This is why boating should require a license with a training course.

                            A real tragedy.

I guess not wearing the kill chord is fine (like alot of things) until something goes wrong. I never wear mine (small river and know it well) but hearing stories like these makes me think twice. I think i might lengthen it so i can tie in on but still move about a bit - just in case. Good job the guy in the video was off the throttle when he lost control because it looks like he wasn't wearing his. Very lucky indeed.

Poor girl in the purple broke her nail and then broke her face! Sit down! That didnt look like much fun before the accident either.
