I just started a new post with a picture of the 2014 Nautique G23 with the exhaust system designed by Fresh Air Exhaust. The title of the new post is:
2014 G23 and G25 with Fresh Air Exhaust designed exhaust
In regards to the discussion on this post:
Initially we tried to mount the FAE to the swim platform brackets; we tried to avoid drilling holes through the transom. Unfortunately, even though the swim platform mount is very similar to the FAE we make for Tige singles, it just did not work on the G23/G25. Consequently, we went to mounting the FAE to brackets bolted to the transom. The transom mount is far more robust than mounting to the swim platform. Installation is easy and the brackets are mostly hidden by the shiny center cover plate.
Once we install a few more FAE on the G23/G25, perfect our consistency and verify that Nautiques measurements are consistent, we should be able to make this FAE "installation ready" with no cutting or drilling of our parts required.
I have spoken with Buxton Marine and offered them a free FAE to compensate them for their hassle dealing with the platform mount. Most FAE installs go quickly and smoothly.
Turned down pipes do not do much to reduce the exhaust noise or Cabon Monoxide. They cannot extend below the waterline; if they did the spray and drag would significantly impact boat performance and handling. FAE work so well because the FAE downpipe is in the prop wash where the water is frothy. The prop wash pushes Carbon Monoxide and the other exhaust gasses away from the boat with the exhaust surfacing more than 100' behind the boat (once the boat is up on a plane).
Thank you ,
