Coversports installation guide help???

Well the forum is right......It appears to be a great cover and Brent is an interesting guy. I got my cover in a generic box folded with no instructions or paperwork what so ever. Where my boat is kept I have very limited cell service and no internet. Does anyone have a step by step instruction procedure for this? I'd like to print it out and take it with me..............didn't even attempt it this week end as I was a little perplexed and want to do it right the first time. ADVICE IS APPRECIATED as I'm not the best at figuring this kind of stuff out but the wife is if I give her instructions. Cover seems to fit great.............just want to have it fitted and adjusted while it's on my trailer and not on my boat lift where access to the boat is a little more complex. MANY THANKS!!

Not sure what kind of boat you have, but on my 211, I put the cover on the boat, snapped the clips around the tower legs, zipped the cover around the legs and moved to the back. The tiedowns installed in the screw holes in the rub rail and one on the center lift ring. The strap cinched up in the back under the rub rail. Once I got it pretty snug, I started taking up slack wherever I felt it was needed. Once I got it like I thought it should fit, I took it off and tried again. Once it is properly adjusted, I put the cover on the boat, make sure the nose is properly positioned, pull it snug on the back, zip and clip around the tower legs, clip the transom eyes on, tie to rear lift ring, cinch up rear strap, snug up the rear tiedown straps and button everything up. It took me about an hour to get it properly fitted, and had to readjust the side clips and rear straps the first couple of times towing because the cover stretched a little. Now that it is fit perfect, it takes about 5 minutes to properly put on. That includes removing it from the duffel it is stored in. This thing fits like a tight (OJ style) glove. No leaks, no flapping, and no worries. Spend a little time in the driveway or garage, and you will be a pro at it.

I think everyone is trying to think of a nice way to say 'how many ways can you put on a boat cover?'. It's not rocket surgery - start at the front, it should be pretty self explanatory.

Apparently you've never had a coversports cover biggator.............lots of set up the first time you fit these covers if you want it right!

For the first time this is what I did. Yours will vary slightly due to your tower.

1. Put the tip over the bow and walk all the way back and install the center strap on the grab handle and put some tension on the whole cover. (Put cover around tower posts as necessary). At this point it should be draped over the whole boat like a tarp with a line down the center.

2. Put all the 'J' hooks on the cover in about the middle of the velcro patch. (I attached a image of my 'J' hooks) Now put all the 'J' hooks over the rub rail all the way around the boat.

3. Adjust the 'J' hooks by tightening/loosing them by moving them up and down on the velcro patch. Once the 'J' hooks are in the proper location they should almost pop into place and stay hooked. Your cover should look tight all the way around the boat and should be tight from side to side all the way up and down.

4. Now that the 'J' hooks are installed and adjusted you can secure the rest of the back of the boat. I always use a loop method for easier removal of tight straps. (Another included image)

5. Now tie up the draw sting assembly and get it started. I choose to cut of my excess rope, but I waited a while first. Then pull the draw string tight and wrap up any left over rope and tuck it inside the pouch.


It is not all the hard, just takes some experimenting. You will need to adjust the 'J' hooks after a few towing trips as the cover stretches a little. Minor adjustments here and there make a huge difference. The main thing is install the center strap only and adjust the 'J' hooks. by having the center strap and 'J' hooks in proper adjustment the whole cover should be tight as a drum even with out the rest of the rear straps.

Thanks BrennanK................I think I have it in my head now and will be there Friday to work on it. The 2 straps left and right of the center strap were throwing me a little and I don't want to cut anything until I very sure of all the adjustments.................looks like a great cover once it's properly fitted and adjusted!

bobcat,,, Bennanck, explained it nicely, I have had four cover sports, over the the years, the first was a a little intimidating, a lot of fine adjustments, but once you go through it. it all makes since, after you get it fitted, you'll say to yourself, that want"t soo bad,
