    Fat Sacs for 226 Team

2006 Air 226 TE - I'm going to make an order for some sacs soon and just trying to get some input from people with experience with this boat. I'm going to try to keep as much storage space as possible but still try to get a nice surf wake for both starboard & port side. I'm leaning towards ordering a 750 & 3 400's. I'm thinking 750 in large starboard compartment & 400 in port side step compartment (if it will fit), 400 on step & 400 in bow which will be moved to either side.

Will the 750 in the starboard box still leave enough room for some storage such as life vests when filled?

I'm not able to get storage measurments now but will the 400 fit in the step or can I go bigger?

    Thanks

I don't have any experience with a 226 but I don't think you would have any problem fitting a 750 in the large starboard locker and still have some storage space left over. Am I correct to assume that you do not have the factory hard tanks? My 99 210 is much smaller than your boat and does not have factory tanks and I am able to fill 750s in both rear lockers and still have room for quite a few vests and other gear on top of the sacs when they are full. I can't really help you with the port side step locker but I wouldn't be surprised if you could get the 750 pretty close to full in there. The 750 is 8" longer(50" vs 42") than the 400 but only 4" taller (20" vs 16") and 4" wider(20" vs 16"). Hopefully somebody with a 226 can give you some concrete answers but I hope this helps.

      Thanks
Yep, got hard tanks. Hopefully I have the boat back from the shop end of next week and will measure. Just really getting trigger happy on purchasing these to have them next weekend, but guess I better wait. My biggest question is the step compartment.

Ill start with saying that the 226 is the most under rated surf boat on this forum. I miss mine!!! All we did was add one 1100 lb sac in the starboard locker for goofy and laid it in the walk through on port side. Fill up the side locker you are surfing and go to town! No belly ballast. I think you can see pics on my deal some how. I'm not smart enough to add them to this deal and this is the only place instill have pictures. Good luck wait you don't need luck your boat will do great!
