2007 196 Just started running funny. Feels like the prop is blowing out? HELP

My friend has a 2007 196 with low hrs and mint condition. We just got in from skiing and were going to get gas and it started acting like it was porpoising or the prop was blowing out. Went back to the dock and checked everything for tightness and visual inspection looks good. Any clues as to what is going on?

did you check the trans fluid level? I have seen this when the transmissions are very low on fluid.

Yeah, agree with Mike on checking the Tranny. We have an '07 196 for our "club boat" on the private lake that I ski on, and there are a significant number of hrs on that boat, but it started having similar symptoms. Turned out to be a transmission re-build, and solved the problem.
