    san cooler/seat no drain?

Why is there no drain for the cooler under the seat in san (not in the open bow but under the other seat). I pulled the cup holders out this weekend and the box was half way full of water. Has anyone ever installed a drain that allows the water to flow in to the hull so it can be bilged out? The cup holders have holes in them to which also allows water to get into the box. any help or suggestions would be great. my boat is an 02

    RE: san cooler/seat no drain?

I have an '02, and mine has dry storage under there. (The seat where the observer puts their legs, right)

When did they put the cooler there. I thought they did that in '03.

If it were me, I would drill a hole and install a garboard drain sleeve with some sealant, then put a plug in it like the two other coolers have.

my 01 has the cooler in the glove box area, and it has a drain (love it). It is strange that they would go away from it, it must be because of the location, you would need to drain below the lowest point of the melted water. But it would make sense that the bilge could discard the extra few cups of water. Maybe a hose could be routed to the bottom of the Hull where the bilge could take care of it?

mine has the glove box cooler too but it doesnt get used because the amps are right under it. i really dont use the under seat one that much but it looks like if it rans and water gets in the cup holders it will just drain to the box. so i probably will but a drain in some how.

Andy, I hope you are loving the SAN. The glovebox cooler is really great, it is amazing how many 12oz sodas you can fit in that thing. I have my amps mounted directly under it too, and that is def. the driest place on the boat, I would not worry about that hose leaking, just keep the plug in it until you are done cooling your drinks because the ice will melt pretty fast if you let it drain the whole time. As far as the underseat storage I keep (from far left to right) rope/handle, v-drive, 2 more handles and Knee brace, dock ties, and sac pumps in the largest one. I would not put ice/water in this "cooler" because it will just fill the seat up with water and I would not drain it because I find myself pulling this seat out of the boat pretty often for washing the carpet/vinyl. I also keep my Broadcast and wakeskates and tool bag under the clamshell all the time, fits like a glove. Just my .02, works great for me.

Indo, 4 the glove box cooler, if it has a plug, u can seal an elbow in place, connect a tube, & run it inboard to the bilge i think.
