Now you've got me wondering gang!!

I've been with Ski Safe for a while now because Southeast CC recomended them and so does CC. I've had no claims and always thought the price was right, but if they're that bad!! I have all my insurance with a local State Farm. House, cars, everything, and they wanted over $780 to insure the 196. I don't think so scooter! Rub a lamp!! Yellow_Flash_Colorz: Any suggestion's guys??

As Always, Best Regards to ALL!!! Mike

    RE: Now you

Call Progressive. I also use State Farm for everything else, but Progressive's rates are half what State Farm wanted to cover my boat. Progressive was very easy to work with, and although I have never had to file a claim with them, I have heard good things about them from other people.

        RE: Now you

For what it's worth, I did a side-by-side comparison of Ski Safe vs Progressive about a month ago on my '94 SN. I had them each quote the exact same coverage (comprehensive, collision, uninsured boater, same deductibles, etc. etc.) and for year-round usage.

The Progressive quote was about $50 cheaper than the SkiSafe quote...

Thats great when progressive actually offers insurance in your area. Not in MA though.

You might want to checkout these guys - boat US , i've been with them for 2 years now and i thought their rates were very competitive. I had no claims though.

I know people have been respnding badly to ski safe but boatus was 100$ more than the quote i got for ski safe. Plus the people at boatus that were helping me kept transferring me to new people and i would have to give my info all over again. I personally will never use them from that experience.

Strange... I got a quote from Progressive and State Farm (where I have House, Car, etc.).. the rates were within a few dollars of each other and about $75 cheaper than Boat US.

Dont let the hype about a fire scare you away form an Insurance company. When you go looking for insurance, its up to you to know what kind of coverage you have. If you store your boat in a group setting, make sure you are coverd. Everyones situtation is differant. I have had no problems with ski safe, but I am always looking for better rates. I promo for CC and if USA waterski accepts Skisafe, it cant be that bad. I would assume if there were claim problems, they would not let you use them as a tourny boats.

The fire isn't hype, it happened. As I stated in the other thread, you should read your policy and make sure that you are covered. After reading the policy I had with Ski-Safe, it wasn't what I thought it was. A lot of detail is missed when you sign up over the phone. You're right my fault. I found out that they are a broker - not an insurance company, again my fault for not cheking them out. But who they choose as a carrier for the insurance isn't my fault. I had a contract with them and that didn't seem to matter. They flipped me to Ace insurance and let me deal with the issues. Which ended up being a nightmare. Terrible customer service, even after going up the chain. Hold time and waiting for call backs was crazy! The marine surveyor that they sent out was "the best in the industry" He had NO idea what a tower, V drive, etc even was! It goes on and on. My buddy's 05 X2 was in there as well- he had the same problems as he too was covered by ski safe. (Check WW.com for his thoughts)

My Excursion was in the storage building, covered by Country Companies. An agent came out, very helpful, picked it up and gone. Returned like new.
Wife's Jeep top was covered through All State - got a check in less than a week.
Personal property, covered by State Farm - No issues.
(Just got married, why all the different carriers)
Progressive - two of the guys had them - awesome!
Again, this was my experience, if you have had success with them in the past - great. I too had the attitude - "CC endorses them" (now I wonder if they get a cut?) I will never use this company again, and perhaps others can learn from my experience. If it only goes as far as reading your current policy. And yeah I finally got a check, after making 3 months of boat payments on a burnt boat.

One other thing - if you have ski safe, make sure your equipment is covered, as mine wasn't. Even though it had a deductable listed, in the fine print it was only covered if the boat was floting or in transit.
