    SANTE 230 w 343

Thanks in advance for any help. Looking at a 230 with a 343. Is that going to be underpowered? Is there a recommended prop for when the boat is loaded up with ballast? Thanks.

I have a 230 w/ 343 and no issues when surfing. I'm sure one could always want more power at the end of the day. When surfing we have Port Full, 750lb Fat Sac in locker, Belly Tank Full, 500lb in bow area (additional integrated tube Fat Sacs) and 5+ people in boat. When wakeboarding I wished it had a better hole shot even thought we don't fill both 750s all the way.

Might have come with the 1579, if loaded the 1235 is suggested. Ask the seller which prop is on it now -- ACME props are easy to identify with the prop model number stamped right where you can see it http://www.acmemarine.com/our_props.php

I'm an not 100% positive, but i believe i have 1325 (power prop is what the dealer calls it) with the 343. I have never had any problems with power and I weight the crud out of the boat. Roughly 2500lbs over stock. Weight distribution is key.

          Hey,

I have a 2010 230 TE loaded with weight. I have 1100's in back, 400 on the port and the 650 integrated with the piggyback and 400 LBS of lead. I am also running the 343, surfing the boat is fine. Loaded with people and water the hole shot needs some assistance. I am currently riding the 1235 prop and am in the process of changing to the 2079. This is supposed to assist with the hole shot says the guys at Wake prop. Time will tell. Overall its a fine engine for everything.

I have a 2013 210 SANTE with the 409. I'm glad to have it for surfing with a loaded boat. I'd never buy a 230 without the 409. The Nautique rep I spoke to said the 409 is the minimum motor he'd put in a 230.

Here's my notes from our conversation about motors for the 210 and 230...

                210:

                1. realistically fits 8 people (rated for 12 max)
                2. 343hp is fine, 409hp makes it a rocket ship
                3. you will feel the 409 in the low and high ends, it's an overall better motor...but not necessary unless loading boat
                4. stock prop that comes on the 210 is fine, no upgrade needed
                5. no info yet on what NSS will look like with the 210, but based on what it's done on the 230 and G23 it should really improve the surf wake

                230:

                1. a little bigger and more adjustable than the 210
                2. ideally add 450's on each side for ballast
                3. 230 is comparable to G23 for surfing
                4. 230 is actually the best for surfing
                5. realistically fits 12 people (rated for 16 max)
                6. 343hp too small, 409hp minimum, 450hp nice but not necessary
                7. 230 has a very efficient hull design, so you'll only notice better performance with the 450hp (over the 409) in the high RPM ranges

Sorry dartwithy but I totally disagree with you on the stock prop on the 210 is fine comment. Not so, this boat should be designed from the factory to run a 14.5" prop like the 1235 without the gel burn issues. The 1579 team prop that comes with the boat sucks.

Feel free to disagree, I'm a noobie! Haha

So I should get the 1235 for my boat with the 409?

                    What are gel burns?

                    Thanks!!

Also, can you guys comment on the pros and cons of the 1235 (and other props) that are offered for the 210 and 230?

Does the 1235 just give you a better hole shot when loaded but you sacrifice high end?

There are no negatives in performance with the 1235 compared to the 1579. Low end is better as is top end and to top it off wakeboarding RPM's are lower also. The problem is the hull clearance with the 1235 isnt sufficient enough on the 210 hull and eventually the gel coat just above the prop will begin to breakdown. I can't imaging how hard the 409 would pull on a 210 with a 1235 prop! That would be crazy!

I love the 1235 on m 230. That prop will yank me plus factory ballast right out of the water in no time. My boat is pretty slow though, the highest I can get it is like 38 which seems slow to me because I have 390 horsepower where as my old boat (Dynasty Regency 190) had 215 and would get to about 47ish. But I don't think that the top end is really that big of a deal.
