    Scratches

So I took my boat out and had it "parked" just off the beach and the kids in our group were play on/around the boat floating on kneeboards and now I have scratches from the kneeboard rubbing against the hull (black). You would never see feel them on a white hull I know they can/will come out but would like to start with minimal abrasive, thoughts?

Here is my simple math: Wax might do it, alone, depending on how deep the scratches are. If you need more, a cleaner wax is the next step up in abrasiion. The more abrasive you use, the more buffing you will end up needing. A rubbing compound will leave a dull finish that then needs more work.

So I got the white part of the scratches out, it took some pretty aggressive rubbing compound. Unfortunately the grooves or marks from the scratches are still there and would require sanding to remove. You can't see any marks unless you get the light just right Which is acceptable but still really sucks. I now have a better understanding for why people avoid black. It's still the best looking but you would never see the scratches or marks on a white hull.
