ehhh, on the overheat! Definitely change the oil, and you'll need to find a way to determine if the head gasket is ok...Tricky on a boat engine, but a good shop can figure out how to get it done...

    Sorry to hear about that.

Re: impeller, it's *possible* to get them in backwards, and if you've never done one that might happen, but it *should* flip the impeller the right way. Are you saying you didn't realize the key slid out of the shaft before you ran it? If so, it would have overheated very quickly...

Ya the key slid out on me, we didn't make it very far from boat launch haha. Now that the exhaust is mostly pulled out of engine bay i was able to get right in there and re-install the impeller and was able to watch it slide over the key. hopefully back on the water by next wknd

BEFORE you run it, make sure the head gasket is intact! If it leaks *a little* water into the cylinder, it will wash the oil off the cylinder walls and create MUCH more damage! If it's a big leak, you'll know it fast, small leak, will let it run ok, but will destroy that cylinder...

Are your exhaust manifolds original? Have they been stored with RV anti-freeze in them during layups? If not, and you've had an overheat as significant as you've described, might be cheap insurance to replace them...

By the way, I'm glad to see that you also have the "5W-30" oil fill caps. Until I saw your picture... i thought that my oil fill caps were not original.
