G23 Surf setup?

Ok We have surfed once behind the beast. I was wanting to know what your setup was? I'm sticking with OEM ballast right now. How full? What speed? I used the one in the linc but was not all that impressed. Need more time to dial it in, but want to know everyones starting points. Oh and NO NSS yet..

NSS makes a big difference. Without it I wouldn't be happy with the surf wake either.

Shawn, I tried surfing my G without NSS just to see what I would be like.

this is what you are going to need to do, you gotta really gangsta lean the boat hard to the surf side.... 70% towards the rear and 30% in the front, all passengers, gear and anything heavy on the surf side. EXTREME lean to surf side.


surf side OEM ballast full

opposite side empty

belly front sac 2/3 - full

1100 in the surf side trunk

750-1500 on or under the surf side seats toward rear

11-11.6 mph, fuel 1/2 -2/3, NCRS 5


for belly and fuel why not full? At full they fight to level you back out. Without NSS you can get A monster wave but you are gonna have to slam the surf side hard and lean the boat.

I agree with nyryan, in weighing the boat, with out nss,at times we got away with just stock ballast an and about 4 big guys, and had a great time, with nss, we have used only stardard set up on link, so far, the same guys this season were amazed, of how clean the wave was and no leaning, went out last Friday evening with just me and one other guy perfect wave, just link set-up... working on switching port to starboard and back while surfing, takes the right timing of switching the nss, yea I know we can get a bigger wake by using fat sacks, but its nice to go out ride and come in and not mess with fat sacks,

Did quite a bit of surfing today and played with the settings quite a bit.

2950 OEM + 1100 in the surf trunk + 500 or so in the other trunk. 11.7 -12mph.

prior to this I was running NCRS 5 and Surf Vert 0.

By the end of the day today I was at NCRS 2 and surf vert 5. Wave was thigh high but nearly 20ft long rideable.

NCRS has a HUGE effect on the wave. NCRS 5 will make the wave extremely tall and steep.... That's how I get that 4ft wave... But the wave is only 10-12ft long. A lower NCRS setting brings the bow down and lengthens the wave. NCRS 0 destroys the wave... Had good effects with NCRS 1-5.

Surf vert steepens and curls the wave vs a rounded over mellow wave.

The 4ft wave is fun to surf.... But it's a massive 4ft wave, unless you have a serious board it'll be hard to ride its so big. These small skims with tiny fins will slide right out.

the longer 20ft thigh/waist high is where you get your airs and tricks like you see on videos because you have that extra length to stall back, then race forward and gain speed.
