It would be unusual for someone to burn through them with a wakeboard, there aren't any tricks I can think of where you expect to get tangled up in the rope. There are only 2 or 3 on the foil and when you're working on learning those most people will use a regular trick release and a spotter to pull it until they get it dialed in. Breaking open an auto release with a wing is rough on the equipment.
The unit I linked to has replaceable shear pins, at $10 each is what I was trying to say. So $80 for the unit including a pin of your choice, then $10 a pin from there on. Pretty similar pricing to the Bullet.
Thanks for bringing the Bullet to my attention but I cannot find it for sale anywhere nor can I find it on the Samson website, is it still being produced?

I think they finally took the Bullet off of the Samson site. A couple of my friends designed it and then one of them made a couple of runs which have been sold out for a while, don't know if he will do another, he's been busy with a new job for the last year or so.

I missed the part about the replaceable bolt, that is basically the same thing and I really like the swivel because I tend to do more things on one side than the other.

Jeff's story got me thinking its a good idea. what do you all think of these products:

KW Tower Release - Manual but better then nothing?
        https://www.lakeelmosports.com/produ...&cat=52&page=1

        Cinch Release - Velcro?
        http://yourgearstore.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=109

        Cinch Manual Release?
        http://yourgearstore.com/index.php?m...roducts_id=572

I know the manual isn't the best but at least someone watching the rider can have some control. I love the Comptech but 650 is a bit steap right now. Ultimately I would love to go with one but I want something to get me started. I have little kids riding behind the boat and have taught them to throw the rope but would rather not find out the hard way as Jeff did.

        Kindly,
        Current - SAN 230 TE
        Sold - 08 Calabria Pro v2
