I 've towed with most of the vehicles mentioned in this thread so here's my .02
durango, jeep, mid size- wheel base leaves it to be pushed around in adverse weather and visual around the load.
1/2 ton vs 3/4- my 3/4 is way heavier than my last 1/2 ton and it's going to get more traction. (Mines a deezl.)
if you're towing far and pushing weight limits here's a couple tips
- trailer brakes(surge) clean, operating and properly set goes real far
- does trailer have only 1 braked axle or both. My Boatmate has both.
- you can add sway braces. Very easy, any U-Haul or trailer place.
- you can add a load leveler, huge difference
- most important! Proper size drop or prop receiver so the trailer is level when on and loaded.
if you're taking road trips, load both the truck and boat like you're heading out and get the right hitch! Ven just to the boat launch once a year this should be done.
