    Best Mooring System ?

    Hello All

I have a question regarding mooring for my new A206.

I have just laid an 800 lbs concrete block underwater that is connected through a chain to a fairly large buoy at the surface. My local boating supplies dealer tells me that the best way to moor a boat is to tie it on both sides. This way, the boat will better align with the wind.

Here is my concern. The front pop up cleats that I would use on my boat are 9 feet each from the tip of the boat. If I use a relatively smooth 1/2" nylon braided rope to tie both sides of the boat to the buoy, will this scuff the "pretty" black gel coat ? Would it work as well if I simply run one rope from the buoy to the front ring of the boat ?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

    JF

I've always tied mine with a single line through the front ring. My anchor is about 20ft from shore and the single line up front allows the boat to swing wichever way the wind is blowing. It works like a champ!

Thanks, I really thought so too.

What kind of line (type, length) do you run from the boat to the buoy ?

      Thanks

        I use a 1/2" braided nylon @ 6ft long.
