what do you do when people are driving dangerously on the lakes?

Okay so I finally confronted a guy last weekend. Needless to say it did not go as planned. My wife and I have a cabin on a medium-size lake in Minnesota. There is a guy about 20 cabins down from us who drives a Moomba. Whenever he is pulling a skier he stands up to the left of the driver seat and faces completely backwards he then proceeds to glance over his left shoulder while driving to see where he is going. I mean he does not even have control of the throttle and steers with his left hand and puts his right hand on the windshield to brace im self. We went out to talk to him which ended up turning into a conversation where I was a complete you know what for even suggesting he was being dangerous. he then proceeded to taunt to us for the rest of the night. Is there a better way to handle these situations? I just don't want to see anybody get killed. Any thoughts would be helpful thanks.

Can you report some one for driving recklessly in a boat?

I have stopped confronting boaters on the Arizona lakes because of the concealed gun laws out here. I have had to stop myself many times from even trying to politely giving constructive advice because the potential risk does not outweight the likelihood of them listening. Such is life these days I guess

I mentioned on another thread that you just need to go to a boat ramp and watch for a few hours to confirm some people with boats are about as intelligent as a box of rocks, and unlike the box of rocks, you cannot count on them staying in one spot, so they could as least weigh something down.

Contact the Minnesota version of the water cops. Stay off the water when Moomba moron is out there.

I had a similar situation years ago, luckily i knew the guy. I asked him why and his reasoning was if he stood up in the center it balanced out his wake. Should have seen the look on his face when I asked why he didn't adjust the ballast to have less in the starboard side to compensate. Oh well!

People forget how quickly things can go south while on the water. Brings up a question: Does anybody attach the kill switch? I never have, however its been on my mind after cruising across a lake at 30mph and suddenly noticing a large pile of logs/debris that i barely missed. would have ruined the day maybe worse

There's no talking to some people. Hate to say it, but after skiing early morning, my boat stays at the dock till later in the day. Hang on our beach, go a couple hundred yards into the cove to get into some really deep water. Take my cruises early eve. When I can relax with family. Myself and my son do take the wave runners out during the day though. It's easier to dodge the jerks. Been there 20 yrs. and refuse to let the jerks ruin my day.

Last week a guy got so close it flipped a fat sac out of my rear seat and into the water. Sheriff luckily came by and I told him what happened. He immediately went to the boat for a discussion. Take pictures or video and talk to the authorities. Only way.

Just wait for him to hit the tree branch (you may or may not have drug into his path) it will be a few days till he gets a new prop. He can use that time to think about his driving style. Or maybe gift wrap a rear view mirror and burry the hatchet.

Easiest thing is to just stay away. A lot of people are completely tanked and have no rational reasoning or comprehension. Especially at the boat ramp. Idiot central.

There more in some lakes!!! We ventured over to Lewisville or should I say dip $hit ville last week for a buddy's bday party and decided we would find a place to make a few passes. Well we find a somewhat calm area up by Little Elm a couple smart boats taking advantage of the spot you know follow the pattern no power turns. All is good until some tool bag in a BU cuts with in 20 yards of us across the bow. Yep last trip to idiot ville with any intention of riding. Any how I'm with will for rides. Go out early and getter done!!

that's one of the best parts. It doesn't matter if he has a spoter in the boat or not that's still how he drives. He had two guys in the boat the night I talked to him.

I basically agree with this statement. In the end when he offs himself you can at least say that you tried....
If its not a competition ski boat, its always second best.
