Yet another prop discussion.

Hey guys, I know there have been a lot of prop threads on here but I'm wanting some opinions. The other day I was out and I was noticing really bad prop cavitation, to the point that we had to stop wakeboarding for the day . I am currently running a 1235 on an 08 230 Zr6. The prop has been reworked many times because of my nasty river so we decided it was time to just buy a new one. I got on the internet and found a propeller buying guide chart for the 230 and it suggested the 644,1161,1579, and 1235. Since I already had the 1235 I thought I would give one of the others a try. I decided on the 1579 and was just wondering what y'all's thoughts on this prop were. When I wakeboard I only run stock ballast and when I surf I only have one 400# sac that I fill. Do you guys think this will be plenty of prop for me? I made the switch because I don't want to have to deal with cavitation again.

Not sure what "prop buying guide chart" you were looking at, but it wasn't a very good one! The 644 won't work at all as it is RH rotation. You would need a 645. With that being said, really if the only issue you have was prop-slip or cavitation and your current prop is out of spec... I would stick with the 1235. The 1161 and 1579 are both 1" smaller in diameter and the 1161 has almost 2" less pitch making them far less superior to the 1235. There will be a noticable difference in hole-shot. Diameter makes a huge difference IMHO in hole-shot and top speed. You will move less water, which means the boat will move slower.

There is a reason people running tons of ballast on 210s and 230s swap from the 1579 (stock prop) to 1235 (power prop)! If you aren't having issues with prop burn on the hull keep the 1235, else look into the 1433. Talk to ACME and they will most likely repeat what I've said. If anything I would look at a 5 blade like the 2245. Seems like the reviews on 5 blade props are 50/50 though. ACME has a program that will allow you to swap out props for testing you can talk with them about as well.

Are you happy with the performance of the 1235?

Do you want/need more torque to carry more weight?

is there a top speed you need to maintain else it'll be a show stopper?

I like my 1579 over my 1235 because if its not butter it will grind air. Right now I have my 645 on because we r driving around ( 2 newborns ) more then pulling.

On my 2010 230 I had the 1235 but it would not plane out with the amount of water I was running. I went with the 2079 and it has been awesome. I lost about 2 MPH on the top and gained a ton of hole shot. I run 1100's in the back and another 650 in the bow. Without it I was not leveling out.

I would take my 1235 over my 1579 any day of the week! My holeshot, top speed and rpm all got better with the 1235 over the 1579 on my 210. i have zero issue with cavitation also. Your 1235 must be outa spec or something.

I absolutely have to buy a new prop for 2008 210 SANTE. Any reason I should go for the 1235? Do the reasons mentioned previously for the 230 apply to the 210? I assume not but I'd like make sure before I pull the plug.

If the 1235 is the way to go, anyone have a 1235 they want to sell me?

Well, I guess I should have went 1235 in retrospect. Oh well, I don't run hardly any weight (only factory) so I think it will work out OK. I think my 1235 IS out of spec because it has been reworked so many times. There are little cavitation burns on the back of the propeller and nicks all over the front. On the plus side, the 1579 was a good bit cheaper.

Triple the move to the 2079 on my 08 230. You lose some top end but really makes a difference for our targeted uses which are wakeboarding and surfing with ballast. Have the 343 and really wakes up the engine on the bottom end. Also think it helps with 5 mph maneuverability in tight places. 1235 was reconditioned and sitting in the bilge as backup.

Hi what motor do you have in yours? I have the zr409 in mine. Same ballast setup though an extra 1400 in lead. I have the 1235 though am looking for more holeshot as it wont get out with too many people in the boat. Would the 2079 be suitable for the 6l also? It doesn't make the wake washy or anything does it?
