    Wakeboard Rope Length

    Hello,

I'm looking for some input on getting the correct rope length. We are riding behind my 06 SANTE 210. 3-4 adults, maybe a couple kiddos, 950lbs stock ballast. We ride at 21 mph, confirmed with GPS, speedo and PP set. Currently @ 70' w/ handle.

I pulled this picture out of a gopro video, I feel like I ride a bit short, but want confirmation. I'm would consider myself a beginner rider, no inverts. W2W heal/toe, surface tricks etc. I can carry jumps out into the flats, but feel like I'm not getting a ton of pop. A lot of that could be due to technique, I could stand taller and need to work on it. Having video is a great way to learn

Sometimes my W2W is inconsistant and it seems like I need to take a pretty aggressive edge and I will occasionlly lose control at the wake. I'm hoping moving to a longer line will help.

I've attached a picture of me coming over the wake to give you a good idea of current length vs wake shape. Also a picture of my "FollowMeGoProMount" I build over the holiday. Works off the rope to keep the camera on the rider. No more widescreen = Better images (only way to "focus" on a gopro"). And lastly a picture of my Nautique

    Thanks for your help,
    Will

    That is a beautiful boat!

70' at 21 is pretty standard for a legacy hull 210. If you are going to go longer than that, you might have to think about increasing the ballast and increasing the speed a little.

However, you might just try 65' and take a slower approach to the wake at 21mph, just to work on your pop and landing in the opposite trough.

EDIT: shorter rope may also help you clear your toeside and switch healside jumps as you learn them too!

I built it. I used a flight clip tubing clamp, some 1"x1-1/2" aluminum bar. Had a spare razor scooter wheel, borrowed the bearings. Drilled out the bar for the bearings. Installed a stud into the tubing clap. The upright is bar, I used a metal band saw to cut the slot. TIG'd the two bars together. Camera is attached using the tripod adapter.
