    • 2021 Nautique G23 Paragon ///// 2016 Mastercraft ProStar with tower

    #76
I am coming from a 06 Mastercraft X2 and am considering the G23 vs some of MC's current offerings. My dealer has a 2013 G23 left and a local guy is also selling one with 30 hours on the engine, but knowing its the first model year the 2014s may have cleaned up a lot of bugs. I know about the exhaust change and such, but does anyone know more about the minor changes coming to the G23 for 2014? Haven't seen much yet out there on it and my dealer seems to know very little (since i'm sure he wants to sell me his last 2013.)

    Thanks.

I don't think you heard much because there isn't much changed on the G's for 2014 from what I have seen. I saw a 2014 G25 at my dealer this last weekend (obvious because of the side graphic change and the fresh air exhaust). There really isn't much different.

      What I know:
      New side graphics.
      New exhaust system.
New V-drive available that supports a 17" prop - not sure if this is standard and whether they are actually using a 17" prop.
      New colors available.
Flake available on front of boat as well as back (limited to back on 2013 which was a bummer.

I have a 2013 and there has been nothing that wasn't addressed already:
ZR-450 occasionally would stutter and feel like it was going to stall when going to idle. FIXED with ECM Flash.
NSS wasn't available when I ordered. INSTALLED after the fact and now working great.
Sounds like the exhaust difference will be an option for 2013 boats from the factory too. If not, FAE has an aftermarket option.

Other than that, the only little issues I had was a couple vinyl stitching issues and a broken drain plug t-handle. 40 hours of trouble free enjoyment. My only complaint, it isn't already 80 hours.

Yep, hence my only disappointment - not using it for more hours.

However, my buddy, biggator has a G23 parked right across from me so we share time on each others boats. Then add in a 1.5 year old, 3 year old and wife and I don't get the long days out on the boat like I used to. My hope is that they get into wakeboarding and it will get better from here.

I don't have a g23, but i have to say that a new vdrive is not personally in my category of "there isn't much changed".

I guess "much" is relative. In this case, I was meaning there weren't a large number of changes... especially when compared to the 210 and 230 refresh.

Just an FYI for those 3 event / SN200 enthusiasts out there, MC is unveiling the new Prostar at noon tomorrow on the Prostar facebook page - in the unlikely event you haven't already heard. It will not appear on MC's website until Oct, as that's when it'll be available for purchase. As a 196/200 kool aid drinker, I'm still excited to see what MC came up with.

Did anyone read through the Yeargin interview where he referenced a 17x17 prop for 2014 Gs?

Yeah its being discussed in at least 3 threads right now, everyone is excited to see the results. 2:1 ratio and 17x17 should make a rather noticeable difference compared to what we have now.

the two 2014 Gs that I saw had a 15 inch prop on them. The one was a 450 the other was a 550

One cool thing I just thought about was that the 230 and 210 no longer have side vents. Should be good for the heavy weighted surfing!

That should help, I do get water in mine when surfing from time to time. I tend to surf when the water is too jacked up to wakeboard so when your surf side is toward the lake action it gets in there. Of course with the setup more like the G you have to learn how to slow down without taking water over the rear deck and into the vents, especially when weighted heavily so its a trade off.
