    Skied behind our G23

This past week, we wakeboarded a ton, surfed a little and finally got around to skiing behind our g23.

All in all, the wakeboarding and surfing with the NSS is fantastic.

Slalom wake at 60 feet and 32 mph is perfectly serviceable, although you do hit the roostertail a bit. Since we learned behind a 24 foot cuddy cabin boat, I guess that helps a little. My old 2004 210 super air didn't do much better in terms of the slalom wake, IMHO.

Great boat to teach with, I can store all of my aids in the ample compartments.

Thanks for posting! I have been wondering as I am a avid wakeboarder, a good wake surfer, but I love to ski from time to time!

I'm guessing it's about a serviceable as the 200 is for wakeboarding, however, I think it would be a blast skiing behind a G. I would love to use some HO wake skis or a pair of jumpers and go nuts back there, on a hot, busy lake day.

I by no means am a slollam guy.... but to my untrained eye it goes FLAT back there at anything over 30... when NCRS is at 0, it brings the bow down and it gets really flat. More flat than ive seen any wakeboat.

I was going to post something on this a while back.... but figured a post ref a 7000lb G23 being good for slollam would be a flame thread.

@nyryan, thanks for sending me those pics last week of the little wakesurfers...it helped me save a lot of time.

With regards to the slalom skiing, I meant to get some pics of my brother back there, but we forgot. Next time, maybe.

I agree that the NCRS really flattens it out and for me, is good.

As for jumping the wake, from 24-28mph or so a pair of jump skis should be pretty cool. So far, we have had a few adults up on two skis, although I haven't been on two for years.

I will let you know in a week or two how it is for slalom. I picked up the Radar Satori ski and figure that will be my G ski. My syndicate will be for more traditional ski boat wakes. I will post pics even if I am embarrassing myself

I was under the impression the 200v had a pretty descent board wake.

We have a lake trip planned soon and on the lake we are going to I can usually find some glass in the am. I plan to try the Connelly F1 behind the G that weekend. I know it won't be a MC 190 so I don't have high hopes but it should be good for a few crashes. Will post results afterward.

I'd be surprised if you crash often.

let us know what the deal is, though.

I was pleasantly surprised with the wake. I do have a friend with a 200'though.

                    Good luck!

OK Three of us skied the G23 this weekend, for two sets. Two intermediate and one semi-advanced. The best run on the salmon course for the 'semi- advanced' skier was 3 buoys at 15 off. The intermediates had not skied the course but could cut across the wake several times in a single set. Our conclusion was this is definitely not a ski boat. The two intermediate skied at 28 and 30 mph. The semi-advanced backed off of 36 mph and skied at 32 and 34. Line lengths were full and 15 off. The NCRS was set a 5 and then 0. The comments from the intermediate were: the wake looks flatter from the boat than when you hit it. It is hard and somewhat intimidating. At those speed is almost look like a double bump to me. As the "semi-advanced" skier, IMO is is not worth spending the energy trying to ski behind this unless you want to do recreational skiing. The wake was hard and you had to make sure you were slicing through it. A little off edge and the ski would leave the water for about three feet after hitting the wake, which was a single bump. Unfortunately no picks or video, will get them net time. We did this on the last day of a four day trip, so the body was tired. I should have done it on day one but didn't want to get hurt and ruin the trip. I had better hopes but will test again someday soon. I think the real solution for those who like both sports is to move to a two boat family or get a good friend to buy the one you don't have.

I think you are correct about recreational skiing, as that's all we plan to do behind the g23. My 7 year old is really loving the wakeboard and that is shaping what we plan on doing in the future.

Thanks, swankster for the writeup. We have a good time skiing behind ours, but if we go to the course we will hitch a ride in our friend's 200.
