    Rear Pylon

If my research is correct, I'm pretty sure that 1999 was the first year they had the rear pylon behind the seats versus in the center of the boat in the SuperSports/ Super Airs.

I was wondering if anyone knew if it was possible to install a rear pylon on an earlier Super Sport and what it might cost to do so?

I think the back seat pylon might have been an option in 99 but it didn't really catch on til 2000 from what I came across when I was looking. My 99 had the center mounted pylon but it has since been removed and the hole was plugged. It could probably be added but it might require some fabrication. This guy might be a good starting point.

I was looking into that, but unless I misunderstood it was replacement for the back seat pylon to make it retract, or is it actually a full pylon you can install?

You are correct it is a replacement for an existing pylon but it looks like it comes with most of what you would need besides the brackets needed for support underneath which would still need to be fabricated. Or maybe you could get one of the members that took advantage of that product to sell you the pylon that they removed to get you started.

I think it was an option but my 99 has a small tow ball on the transom that is suitable for towing a small tube or water skiers, etc. Before anybody says it, it is truly a tow ball and not a lifting ring meant for a vertical load. If your goal was to slalom ski then the newer style pylon would be much better but the few times a year I get my arm twisted into pulling a tube it works fine. I also like that I don't have the pylon sticking up when it only gets used once or twice a year.
