Nice looking boat. Trailer would worry me as it leaves a significant portion of the hull unsupported.
The boom cables hook to the bow eye (not the lift ring) and should allow the boom to rest at its rearmost point where you would like it to be on the hull. Remember the further forward the less spray.

It's possible the trailer bow stop needs to be moved forward to get more hull on the bunks, would need some better pics of entire trailer from the side to be sure.
Technically the extended pylon should not mount to the lift ring as you have it, you should have another strap which goes through the bow eye then connects to the ratchet strap.

As far as maintainence:
-Replacement of raw water pump impeller. You may not have to worry about it until the end of the season if its maintaining temperature.
-Recommended engine oil changes
-Recommended transmission oil changes
-If its got points (in the distributor), make sure they are free of corrosion and gapped.
-Prop shaft alignment.
Some good upgrades to look into are:
-ACME prop
-electronic ignition (instead of points)
There are other upgrades depending on what your looking for, but you can't go wrong with the two I listed.

The comments above regarding the Fly High and boom are correct.
CQ is spot on with the trailer comment- bow stop location *might* need to be adjusted for proper tongue weight, but otherwise, that trailer is 100% correct and original to the boat... other than the obvious paint job, etc.
An Acme 1210 would really wake it up, but skip the EI upgrade. Keep the points unless you need to swap out the whole distributor.1990 Ski Nautique

Nice looking Tique, have fun with it! Good advice above on the Skylon and boom mounting. The strap that Quinner is referring to is a speaker rigging hoist similar to the below link and one of those may work for you if you can figure out the required specs. You feed it through the bow eye (not lifting ring) and then connect the Skylon cable to both ends. The hoists usually have color coded tags so roadies can quickly identify which weight they need need and I know the one that came with my Skylon had the purple tag. Maybe somebody can check theirs and let you know what the specs are. My brother has my old boat and Skylon so if nobody else can get you the specs I will try to get them for you next time he is around that boat.

Thank you for all the advice. I'm still a little confused on the skylon (pipe in the middle of the boat) and boom (pipe that would stick off the side of the boat) subject due to terminolgy but i'm getting it. Essentialy, I think, what your saying is I need to be using a strap (hoist) to hook the cable from the skylon to the hull and a strap to hook the 2 cables coming from the barefoot boom. I'll have to research the brand name and see it there are any directions around.
The trailer issue: Didn't notice the overhang, it does seem to be alot. I'll have to get better pics and post but I can't load up the tongue too heavy as it's being pulled with a Subaru Outback.
Someone before me has already installed Electronic ignition. I do see a new prop in the future as the one on it has some dingers in it.
I don't understand madcityskiers comment about the further forward the less spray comment about the boom?
I'll have to research prop shaft alignment, i've never done that before.

There is no "strap" on the boom.
Study the pictures in the 3rd or 4th post of this thread. It would be best if we talked by phone but I'm out of the country.
