How many hours did your new nautique have?

It looks like everything is getting worked out for the most part. 5.67 hours were at 700 rpms and 1.05 were at 1800. then very few above that. I believe it was a problem either at nautique or pcm. I still haven't heard what. All in all I just want my g23!

That's probably true and probably true for any engine. Idling generally isn't good.
Hopefully they seated the rings with the break-in procedure before all the idle time.

I'm thinking that any carbon that built up or fouled the plugs will burn off quick enough.

Spent 3 minutes near WOT - that was probably the break in runs.

Otherwise very strange they would let it idle so long. Like they started it and got distracted with something else. I hope it was in the water and not on the garden hose.

I am sure it was idling while the dealer showed other people around the boat. but 58 starts? That seems to me like a lot for 7 hours.

Absolutely. That washes the rings right out. Idle is just as bad, and in some ways worse, than WOT on a new engine. If this were a motor we were building and it had an hour of idle I'm at least doing a leakdown and possibly a compression test. If time is no factor I'm taking the head off and putting in new rings just to feel better about it before handing it to a customer.

Your engine will last 3000 hours or so , get over it , you have 2993 hours left.

Why would anyone schedule a vacation dependent on on a boat so close to the delivery !

I install granite countertops for a living and I can't stand it when people try and schedule the cabinets , the granite, the floors , the painters etc.,, so close to each other with no room for errors. These people actually make it worse for themselves because now if on trade is delayed , we are all delayed. There's other jobs scheduled. So now they have to wait longer for the next opening.

This is my thought. Boat did not test well at the factory and needed additional time. Wouldn't you rather have a few more hours to make it right !

Now I have a question. Why do you need additional ballast ? Stock is huge. I can't see anyone needing more.

I appreciate everyone's responses. The engine had 5.46 hours of idle time pretty early on that no one can explain. The dealer says Nautique has not given any explanation so far. I can see how this may look silly for someone who isn't shelling out a $30 a day payment for the next 15 years of their life ( not including gas or insurance ) and for someone who will still owe almost $70,000 on a boat after 8 years of payments. (3.9% interest) Nautique is supposed to be the best out there that's why this is so concerning to me. I honestly am not a engine expert and have no idea what to do.

Trust me, I wish Nautique had put that many hours on mine and figured out the issues. Mine came and the dealer found that a cylinder was misfiring and not working correctly, PCM shipped out a new engine and had it installed. I have had repeated issues of the engine not starting since that they haven't figured out yet. I would take my engine coming with whatever hours if they were able to get things sorted out and it ran correctly. You are worrying about hours when they haven't equated to a problem and more likely equates to issues being ironed out.

As for the payments and delivery close to your trip, that has nothing to do with Nautique in my opinion. Good luck, I hope you have a boat for your trip. I am not sure there is a reason to catastrophize though.

I would take the boat on vacation without the new stereo....or any stereo for that matter... before I let my blood pressure rise.

I am a tougher customer than most as far as expectations.... but he did line these up major activities pretty much on top of each other pretty tight. The last thing I would want to do is rush a dealer prep, or a custom audio install. There are so few solid shops out there that do a good job, i'd let them take their time.

put in those terms, i can only say OMG!!! ... that aside, the most important thing is that you have a boat that runs great. the time on the motor might imply that extra effort was made in ironing out some issues, but you'll know soon enough. i would hold off on extra anything, and make sure the boat runs perfect in every regard. i might also contact Nautique directly to get an explanation right from the horse's mouth. No way would they not explain that you to, and there may be a perfectly reasonable explanation ... good luck

As everyone has said 7 hours on the boat to troubleshoot it is one thing but 7 hours of dealer playtime is another. Being over 58 starts in those 7 hrs sure is strange to me also. That's 1 start every 7 mins! Call the factory and ask them.

Also doing the math assume the boat lasts 2000 hrs that's only about $500 worth of hours.
