I always await and love your spring ride video. There's some huuuge double ups and tech tricks going down in it. The wake looks solid and massive but just to play devils advocate for a minute, when the new X-Star came out the forums blew up talking about the landing side of the wake constantly being washed out. Looks like that was happening pretty consistently here behind a G. What was the weight/speed setup?

I think I was pulling JD and Dowdy at about 23 mph (at their request)...typically I run 24 mph with that much weight.2018 SAN G23 XR550

Out of curiousity how much weight were you running when this video was made? I thought I remember you running a bunch of weight on top of the factory weight. Not to bust your balls, but the wake in the video doesn't really look that much different to me than full factory I've ridden behind a few times this season other than the washy parts which you have already explained. Again, I'm not being harsh, just trying to figure out if there really is justifcation for more weight over factory.Jason

It does help to have some extra weight in the G but not much is needed. Unless you are throwing multiple mobe 5's or 900's it's overkill and a waste of gas. What helps even more is having proper technique and popping at the top of the wake on all your tricks. All the weight in the world isn't going to help poor technique, it actually hurts it. I have had multiple people on my G that go the same height whether it's a old 210, a Sanger, a slammed G or a empty G. It's their technique not the wake
And no that is not typical of a G wake. They are always constantly clean and crisp

IMO, with as hard as those guys end up edging, water in the bilge would shift the weight to the side of the wake that the rider is and wash out the other side a bit. You can see that happen on both sides of the wake in the video. The take off side looks clean and crisp, and the opposite side to wash out a bit. As far as more weight adding to wake side, it was difficult to tell in the video.Eric, Phoenix AZ

As I've always said, extra weight in the G doesn't really add a whole lot of height (it does add some), but it certainly changes the firmness and the lip at the top...rather than booting off of water, it feels like you're hitting a concrete kicker with coping at the top.
None of the setups were exactly what we normally run. In the vid they were:
JD and Dowdy section - hard to tell...we had extra weight in the rear trunks (about 1000 total), and 1100 in the bow, plus 6 adults in the boat. HOWEVER, we ended up draining all of the factory rear ballast because we could not get on plain. I figured it was just because of all the people and the fact that we were towing a tube, that it was struggling, but once we finally quit for the night I found that we had almost a foot of water in the bilge. As Eric said, with the way those guys edge, it will definitely make that water slosh around....the take offs were all pretty clean.
Girls section - stock plus 6 people.
Double Ups - stock plus 7 or 8 people
Dowdy Expression Session - stock plus 7 people.
Midwests Best Trick and Colin Ryan - about 800 total in rear, 1100 up front, and 6 people mid cabin.
We are taking a weekend trip with a few of the guys (my bachelor party) this weekend and will have the camera rolling all weekend. I should be able to get video of the typical setup.2018 SAN G23 XR550

IronJ - out of curiosity, which Fly High Sacs (and where in the boat) do you have them plumbed in on the Storm Trooper G? You always have a massive wake and curious to hear how you have it plumbed up (I remember seeing the pics of all the Fly High boxes when you were waiting for your green G to come in). Thanks!

Well since everyone seems to be questioning things, Why the **** are those guys that close to the water? Oh yeah...wakeboard.
Really, WTF the landing is washed out? Wouldn't that make it a bit softer.....not really a bad thing unless you want to start surfing full time soon.

The discussion about the new Xstar wake wasnt about the landing side - it was about the take off side always having a washed out Lip.Migs
