looking at a possible change from mc to nautique. 210 questions

ive always owned mc, but im thinking of a change. im trying to decide between a mc x10 vs 210, both 2103. we plan to surf 75% of the time, 25%wboard. i know the gseries if the surf guru, but 210 is the biggest boat in my budget. nss vs mc tabs. thought id come tothe horses mouth for opinions, i did the same on mc team talk. thanks very much.

I cannot speak for the x10, but the 210 is definitely the does everything boat. What is weird (great) is it does it all very well. We surf, wakeboard, wake surf, wake skate, kneeboard, tube. I even have two buddies that slalom and claim my boat is better then their mastercraft ski boats. Quality about the same in my opinion comparing my 2008 to friends mastercraft 2009. My 2008 would have same hull as a 2013 so I thought it would be fair to share an opinion.

I would say if you really want to compare you will have to actually get behind them. On the other hand, with Nautique having NSS you could just skip mastercraft.

I plan to surf more than anything else. What is the history of the 210 hull? Has it been recently changed? Any changes planned in 2014?

Others are more knowledgeable then me...short answer yes they changed it for 2014. Of course they are saying it is better. So you better check it out or you may feel like you got old technology...

According to what I have read, most of the changes to the 2014 hull were made to better integrate the NSS and make the surf wave even better. You may want to try and test both a 2013 and 14 before you decide. Also remember that the wave is substantially different/better when you add extra ballast above stock.

X10 is a tricked out maristar 210vrs. The wake is decent but is always soft for wakeboarders. Idk about surf. The 210 is a jack of all trades. If you are only 25% wakeboarder the wake difference won't matter to you. Pick the boat that checks the most boxes on your list of needs. Both boats are freakin sweet so try both and have fun.

I have a 210 and am somewhat of a Nautique fanboy due to the absolutely outstanding customer service I have experienced straight from Nautique. If I where you I would make sure to take both boats on water tests try and make sure you do them under similar conditions and pretty close together if possible.

I have to say in the last few years I do think the MC vinyl is nicer than Nautique not saying it holds up better but that it just looks nicer, I'm a big fan the weave stuff they use.

As far as storage I think the MC will prob have more because of how they do their stringers, gives them much deeper storage areas.

Seating arrange might now go to MC also being they now have the reversible rear seats and Nauti got rid of it.

But as far as wakes go I think I would have to lean towards the Nauti for both surf and wakeboard. Loaded up wakeboard wake is money and with the NSS system it's a no brained for surfing.

Lastly I've never heard of issues with Nautique link system and the same cant be said of MC systems the last few years. I like both towers so that's a wash I guess. Good luck!

Thanks for the feedback. Does anybody have any pics of the 210 wave? I was told that with the NSS system, the boat is weighted everywhere like a wakeboard weight rather than just surf side. In other words, no crazy lean like traditional. Is this accurate? The MC dealer keeps saying that MC tabs are as good as NSS for surfing, but I can't figure out why, the boat still has to lean over so much!

I don't have any pics of the 210 wave, but you are correct about the ballast. With the NSS, you can use ALL of the ballast in the boat, and weight the boat evenly, not just the surf side. That's what gives you the ability to switch surf sides quickly, and even do transfers while you're surfing.
I own and operate Silver Cove Marine, which is an inboard boat restoration, service, and sales facility located in Mooresville, North Carolina. We specializes in Nautiques and Correct Crafts, and also provide general service for Nautiques fifteen years old and older.

Arch you are correct the beauty of the NSS and Malibu surfgate is that you do not need to lean your boat over like crazy to surf and it only takes seconds to switch sides. People do report that even better results are obtained with a slight bias to surf side though. The master craft surf tabs do not allow this type of operation.

I do think there are some pics around of the 210 NSS in action but not sure which forum I was in when I seen them.

When I was looking in 08-09 for a new boat it was the MC X15 that caught my eye on the showroom floor . It was the test drive that left it short . My wife skis and there is no way to get any kind of slalom wake out of a X15. It was the test drive that sold me on the 210. With stock ballast [900lbs] and 3 peeps it went from a great wakeboard wake to a good wakesurf wake and a pretty good slalom wake with the touch of a button. One of the things I like best about the 210 is it dosn't need a ton of weight to get a great wake. The only NSS boat I have tried was a G25 it produced the same wake as my 210 only bigger .It was weighted equally on both sides and the wake could be changed from goofy to regular on the fly in about 3 seconds. Another feature of the NSS is its ability to modify the shape of the wake from steep and short to long and easy . You owe it to your self to test drive both and see witch one works best for you.

700lbs [300 tank 400 bag] in rear locker 300lbs in belly tank 3 peeps.

                      20mph no ballast

This is the only slalom pic I could find

Thanks for the slalom wake pic. I know it's not a 200 but have often wondered what the wake was like. This is prompting me to test drive a 210 now.

The local dealer said there was a 0% price increase on the 210 and 230 for 2014. There were some items removed to facilitate that, the main one I heard was the reversible seating. Also there is no "Team Edition" package with everything, you add options "a la carte".

The hull changes make the boat sides higher, making the inside a little deeper, and more storage. Also the back of the hull was slightly changed to add the NSS. I am not sure if the NSS is available on the 2013 model.
