G23 vs. G25

It seems as most buyers on the forum are choosing a G23. What are the reasons behind the decision? Does the smaller G23 create a better wakeboard or surf wake? Is there a substantial cost difference (if so, what is the % premium for a G25)? It is a forum user preference? Meaning, are dealers selling as many G25s as G23s but not as many G25 owners who are on PN?

Another hypothetical: if cost difference isn't a concern and size isn't a problem (lift, storage, etc.), are there any downsides to the G25?

I believe most people will agree that the wakeboard wake from the G25 is not quite as good as the G23, but the surf wave is generally considered to be better.

No, nothing official. I may be able to find out though. I would guess that the G23 is selling better, since it puts out a great wake, and it is significantly smaller and lighter than the G25, meaning it is easier to manage on the water and to tow. It is also interesting to note that both boats have the same 2,850 pounds of factory ballast.

Rough numbers i heard for MY13 were just over 600 G23's to 180ish G25's.......... both numbers are much higher than forecasted.

That is INCREDIBLE! I absolutely believe it though. I'm sure that's more than they forecasted, especially considering their quick ramp-up of employees to build more boats.

Well - the G23 is kind of a Hummer.. the 25 is more like a Hummerzine. Most people just don't need a Hummerzine.

A better comparison would be the G23 = 210... G25 = 230. The G23 has a great wake and surf wake, like the 210. The G25 may be a bit better surf wake, like the 230, but the wakeboard wake may not be up to snuff compared to the G23. If you were more family oriented or went out with a lot of people and needed/wanted a bit of extra room the G25 may be the better choice over the G23, kind of like comparing the 230 to a 210. I don't really see cost being that much of a determining factor when talking about a $120,000+ boat. What is another $10K-20K when talking about that kind of money for a 23-25' boat?

I just had to laugh to the "But most need a Hummer?". That was good. Most don't. But I think you are right.

But disagree with above. I think the g23 is like the 230. And most don't need bigger than that.

I have only ridden the G25 with stock ballast and was very impressed with the size of the wake. I was with the Nautique rep and he said the G23 wake was 2-3" bigger with stock ballast.

And the G21 will have the same ballast with a smaller hull length. I am anxious to see that size wake. But, FWIW, I would go with the 550 hp in any of the G models.

I've heard the same. I've heard the G25 takes more weight to make the same awesome wake. Pretty simple, bigger boat requires more weight to produce same wake. I got a chance to climb around in the G25 this past weekend. That thing is a monster. The capacity plate listed it at 19 people! Talking about a crew!

I don't know if the 210 230 is a fair comparison. The G25 wakeboard wake is 2-3 inches smaller. The 230 wake isn't smaller or worse than the 210, it is just a different shape. The G25 wakeboard wake actually isn't as good as the G23. And most people don't need more than 23 feet so they go for the boat with a better wake.
