I finally got to make it out on Brians boat today. Beautiful boat, I love the chromax color with the coral blue. Very sharp. The XR550 engine is quieter then the ZR450 engine. Both seem to get out of the hole very quick. We didnt get a chance to try Brians boat with just two adults in it to see how it would compare time wise to the 14 ZR450 G23 that I went out on the other day. Hopefully this week I will get another chance to get on both. I dont think I would want a 2013 450 boat after going on the 14 450 G or the 550 G. There is huge improvement in performance out of the hole vs the 13 model 409s and 450s.
Here is a video of the 2014 G23 with the XR550 going from a holeshot to 23.0mph with 7 adults and 2850lbs of ballast. This isn't super scientific just something we wanted to play with to compare the boats.
http://youtu.be/MRDQyBxuLaE 10.4 seconds the first time but there were weeds on the prop. The next two times with no weeds we were in the 8 second range.

ADMIN NOTE: I changed your title and message to reflect the correct name of the engine (XR550, not ZR500 as your title showed). The 550 comes in two forms for the G23 - the XS-550 (the one with the chrome headers) and the XR-550 (the one with the normal exhaust manifolds). There is no ZR550 or ZR500 as your title and body stated.
