    2014 230 Questions

Some Nautique noob questions regarding the new 2014 230.

    1) wakeboard wake shape? Mellow or steep? Finicky?
    2) hull changes from the old 230 (heard the wake was steep and tough to dial)
    3) is it a flatter bottom or deeper vee? Rough water ride?
    4) stock ballast and distribution? How much is hard tanks and how much is sacks?
    5) factory warranty?

Was considering a G23 but don't want to buy a Diesel to tow it and don't care for the looks of it. Excited about a 230 which will be 25K less than the G.

Any other info would be great. Am new to Nautique.

I have not seen or ridden the 2014 230 wake. But based on hull changes, I would expect the wakeboard wake to be nearly identical as the last version.

Im going to give you same advise as everyone else. Wait until the water is rough go for a ride in all the other boats. Then go ride in a nautique. I'm not saying that they ride better(some do depending on model) I am saying the hull flex and things rattling around is a good indicator of how well built they are. Also look at a competitors boat at 10 years old and a nautique. I am biased so you'll have to go see for yourself but they just are better built boats that last longer. Which is why I think you see nautiques hold resale value better than most builders.

I think so too. If they changed anything it would probably just be how finicky it used to be. 08-13 230 has a very steep wake so I assume the 2014 will too.

Ballast configuration? Will it have the rear facing seating option for the back bench?

I believe that they upgraded the ballast in the 2014 models, including an extra plug and play option. And there is not rear facing bench any longer.

The information there isn't in detail and the dealer doesn't know either.

The hull is supposed to be real close to the old one, just "cleaned up". They tried to clean that very small wash off the lip that the 230 will get if you weight it heavy. Also some shaping in the back to accomodate the mounting of the NSS. I would expect the same big poppy wake. The deck is a little bit taller to give more room inside the storage compartments and sit a little higher in the water. The Plug and Plays looked sweet and had hard "trays" that sat in the back hatches so you could still use the storage that was not taken up by the bags.

From my experience that boat with mostly nose weight will give a pretty nice rampy wake with a nice lip. Or you can weight all out and get the vertical wake. Everyones definition of vert or rampy is a bit different. I was coming from an old 210 so even when the 230 is poppy it was rampy to me.
