SV 211 vs. Super Air/ Air

Can someone elaborate on the Comparisons b/w the Above Models... I am an Original Skiier but with 2 Boys Now, I need more of a Family Boat. After owning a Nautique for 14 Years, but being out of the Boat World for 4 Years I lost touch with some of Model Line Up.

Can someone help me figure out the differences b/w the SV 211 and Super Air/Air (V-Drive, DD Boats)

    Thanks

SV 211 vs. Super Air/ Air

211 is intended to be a cross-over. There are disagreements on the ski wake, but in short it's fine for recreational skiing but you wouldn't want to chase buoys. It's a GREAT family boat, and the walk-thru is worth it's weight in gold.

The 200v is essentially a replacement for the 211, but a tad smaller in size and better ski wake (and newer, so $$$)

Anything you choose, try it out first. I've seen people say the 210 skis well, and others say the 200v doesn't. It's really up to you. Wake opinions aside, the 211 is a great all-around.

We had my 211 out this morning. Two people did slalom runs @ 32 mph and liked it. Then we filled up the ballast tanks and wakeboarded the rest of the day. My buddy used to have a 210 and while the 211 isn't as good for wakeboarding, he was still impressed. He was pulling off backflips and toe side 720's behind my 211 with stock ballast. It surfs pretty well, but you really need to add additional ballast to make a decent sized pocket. The 211's have lots of storage space and the walk thru is very nice.

Thanks everyone... Is there any hull differences b/w the 2004 - 2010 line up.... I am looking at 2008 TE with 380 hours on it... what is a good price? is 2010 the last year they made this boat?

I'm not sure about the hull differences. I would say a 2008 TE in good shape would go for low 40's.

I assume you are talking about 211s? If so I do not think there were any hull changes during their production run. The most major change between 2004 and 2010 that I am aware of is that the prop rotation went from RH to LH starting in 2007 on the 211.

and on 211s, in the later years, I recall something along the lines that Team Editions weren't being offered or that the list of standard options was getting smaller -- this was around the time that the Sport 200V was coming out. . .

I got into my 04 211 Team for low 30s, and it only had 130 hours on it. That was not the going price, but an end of year, jump on it and pray price.

I had skiied behind an SV already and do recommend that before you buy. I'm not aware of any hull difference, but do know that some of the seating changed a bit and the options changed. i've also been told that later years had a new Flight Control Tower that was thicker, but I haven't confirmed that.

I agree with the sentiment that I wouldn't really want to chase buoys behind my 211, but for everything else it is great. I was at the CCF reunion, and one of the kids who wakeboards (just wake to wake jumps, nothing too fancy) liked our wake over his Super Air 210 because it isn't as steep. The 211 is a bit more of a rampy wake and not as steep a kicker as a 210. So the 210 may be better for more experienced folks, the 211 is great as a recreational boat.

Also, for a big family, the layout is great. My kids hated the engine hump of a DD so that was out. They love the walk thru and the seating of our boat, so they are very happy. Surf wake is good with some extra ballast. A bit finicky with the placement, but once you get it dialed in, you can get a good pocket.

If you don't mind the DD, then a Pro Air, gets you ballast in a DD boat. So you should get a better slalom wake in something like a 206, but the seating is limited... I can't comment on the wakeboard/surf setup, but hey with enough ballast, I am sure it can be made to work.

Try to find someone who will let you ski/ride behind each boat. That is really the only way to know.
