    Sport/air Nautique vs. SV211

I have a 99 Air with tanks/tower etc and have found that the 211 is starting to grow on me. does anyone have experience, wakeboarding behind both...obviously both with tanks full etc. Although there are some amazing looking 211's on this site, I've always felt they look a bit like an IO and disliked the walkthrough...other than that, they feel very roomy and nice....again..they're growing on me.

1.) How is the performance? I love the hole shot and race car like feel of my air. Feels like its on rails etc. Does the 211 have this "feel"

2.) How is the wake shape/size when comprably loaded? My boat throws a great wake with just the LCS tanks full, add a fat sac and its amazing.

3.) How is the ride in comparison?

Just looking to compare the 98-03 air/sport with lcs against the 211, if you've owned both

    Thanks

    RE: Sport/air Nautique vs. SV211

I can't give you a direct comparo but I can give you some general observations. First off the SV211 is bigger and heavier than your 99 so it will be slower out of the hole. I had a 1995 Ski Nautique with a GT-40 and went to the SV211 with a 330hp Excalibur. I am still working with different props but it tends to take it's time getting out of the water an up to speed. Shifting the hydrogate into slalom mode helps it plane quicker but it still takes some time. To do it over again I think I would give the ZR6 some serious consideration since I slalom, wakeboard, and barefoot. The 211 handling is great for a V-drive.

I also have to agree that the I/O looking transom took me a year to get used to before I would even consider owning it. Now I see it's functionality more then it's aesthetics. The walk through works great, best feature of the boat. Storage is awesome as well, I even forget that the bow seat cushions lift out for even more storage.

The ride is much better then the direct drives.

      Patoloco,

I can't give an exact comparision either but I have the SV211 with the ZR6 and my friend Clubmyke has the same boat with the 330 Excalibur. IMO big difference in performance. I can also tell you I came out of a performance boat and I don't feel I gave up much if anything in holeshoot and mid power band response. If you want the "feel" and like the other aspects of the SV211 at least test drive the ZR6.

        RE: Sport/air Nautique vs. SV211

I test drove a 211 last week when I dropped my SAN off at the dealer for service.

I too don't care for the I/O rear end looks, but after driving it, I am starting to like the boat in spite of it's looks.

The handling is MUCH better than my SAN. I really want a 216, but my wife likes the interior of our SAN, so the dealer is trying to convince us the 211 is what we really want.

I was suprised to see how much the gate actually helps the performance of the boat in keeping the bow down, handling, and planeing.

The other thing I don't care for is how shallow the interior space is. The seats are really short, and the gunnels don't come up as high as they do on my SAN. That is a real shame since the boat overall is much deeper.

The wake is very similar to a *gasp* Malibu. It is, IMHO< very nice. Not too steep like my SAN, and does not have the hard bucking edge at the top.

The ride is very smooth. I hit a number of double ups (as best as can be created on a man made ski lake) and it ran through them smoother than my SAN (and my SAN can handle chop fairly well). The boat over all feels very solid.

I know these are comparisons with a SAN not an AIR, but it might give you some ideas on how it compairs.

Apparently the "market" prefers the 211, they can't make enough compared to the 216 or any other boat @ CC.

the 211 is a really nice all around boat.. very confortable and handle great..i do agree with the shallow seating.. that is the major downfall on the boat imo, though it is not that noticeable when your on the water..

i weigh it down with factory ballast and a extra 500 lbs of lead (3 riders).. i tried more weight but it screwed up the wake.. in comparing it to the 210, it still has the "absolute wake"... the 211 is not as steep...

in regards to the pcm 330, i dont notice a difference out of the hole compared to the zr6 except in the mid band... that is where the zr6 comes on super strong in the 16-20mph speed ( full factory ballast plus extra ballast)...

when unwieghted the boat handles like a dream, fast, and handles chop really well...

I have the SV-211 with the ZR6. I like the transom for the functionality. I can step from drivers seat to walkthru down to the platform with ease without any problems. And coming back into the boat from board or ski runs is very easy. I personally don't think it looks like an I/O. It has a unique look that is only Nautique. The boat is solid as a rock and handles superior to my previous boat (MC 210 VRS). The tracking fins give it the rail feel but the boat is heavier than a true ski boat so it doesn't turn quite as tight, but tight enough for a crossover boat. I have boarders and skiers in the family and I wanted something with good performance. The PCM ZR6 is a horse. Mine is propped perfectly. It reaches around 47 MPH at 5250 rpm which is just below the rev limiter, super hole shot with little bow rise. Awesome, solid performance ride.

WakeUp- Are you running the stock prop on your SV211/ZR6? I'm looking for a backup prop and am curious about what everyone else is running with the ZR6.

                  Tyler O,
Mine is the stock ACME prop. 13.5 diameter, 17.5 pitch RH. I think the number is 380.

Thanks WakeUp. I'm getting ready for river season and I'm thinking a spare is the way to go.
