    Pricing a 2002 196

Guys, I have the opportunity to purchase a 2002 196 with a GT-40. Its a clean boat that has been maintained annually, but it has 2700 hours and was used daily for instruction. I want to be fair about the price. Any thoughts or comments on owning a boat with 2700 hours if it has been maintained properly? To my understanding, the majority of the hours are at slower speeds (26 mph). Any opinions on a fair price for an 02 with 2700hrs? At what point would the engine need to be overhauled- if ever?

    Thanks in advance.

I don't think I would be concerned so much about the engine... I would think more about the transmission. (I know nothing about marine transmissions though)

It really depends on the condition of the boat. If the interior is shot and there are scratches and damage on the exterior, I would not pay over $10k. If it has good interior and clean exterior and a nice trailer it could be worth over $15k. Even if it was extremely nice I would not pay over $18-19 for a boat with that much wear and tear.
