Lake Lewisville in TX. I normally run Lake Grapevine but the water is so low all the ramps close to me are closed, so I went to Lewisville.
I'm not sure what it was but think it was a sunken tree. If so, I had to only catch the edge on the NSS. I can't figure out why no hull damage, not even a scratch. How could something bend that metal but do no other damage? The Corp leaves trees in the lake in certain areas for the wildlife. My 230 nav system had the tree areas identified but for some reason the G23 does not. Probably because I had an upgraded chip in the 230. I had 7 teenagers and was doing a lot of instruction. The wind was up and I think I got into the edge of one of the tree lines that they left. Usually they are in shallower water not 36' deep. In the 2014, I'm going to upgrade the nav chip. Until then I'm going to buy a detailed map.
Hopefully this repair will not be over the deductible.2013 G23 450 with NSS (175hrs) and still have the original prop

The question I have is, "With not even a scratch on the hull and with the metal bent that much could the thump been a failure of the NSS extraction process or was I just lucky enough to just catch the edge of a tree with the NSS"? If the later, that is some soft aluminum and is that why it is designed that way? I'm thinking I hit something that knocked it slightly out of line and extraction process cause the rest. Most of the bend is just above the actuator cylinder. Any other ideas?2013 G23 450 with NSS (175hrs) and still have the original prop

I guess it makes sense that they designed something that is hanging off the side of the boat like a lever to be soft.
I still remember horror stories of people with the Malibu Wedge tearing the transom off the boat and sinking.
You probably just bumped a sunken log and that was all it took. Hopefully you can just replace the plate.Rob

Ok I know it sounds crazy but we hit a very large gar about 4 years ago while wakeboarding in a quiet cove. It was loud and sounded like a concrete wall. It damaged the prop and scratched the hull badly. After the hit I slowed and turned the boat around picked up my boarder and searched and noticed a 3-4 foot dead gar with teeth that looked like Godzilla cut almost in half.
Not saying that's what happened to you but it cost me alot of moolahCurrent Correct Craft Boat

How was this the COE's fault? There are very few, if any lakes cleared before filling. It's up to the user to learn the channels and the lakebed itself. Not trying to be mean, just don't like to blame the wrong entity.

Also wish they would also stop releasign water out of the lake....
Luckily the side of the lake over by Pier 121 is not a stump field....And I typically have it all to myself on weekend mornings for a few hours....Current Nautique: 2013 G23

Where on the lake did you hit the stump? I keep my 211 at Hidden Cove Marina. Last weekend I had to put in at 121 and drive it over to my marina. I was pretty nervous but made it across fine. I did a google search and found a map of the lake that shows approximate locations of stumps. My google search was "lake lewisville map of stumps". The first link is to a pdf you can download. It might be a little helpful.

Much to the dismay of boaters corp lakes are not intended for the enjoyment of citizens. They were built to sustain shipping largely on the Mississippi River. If they are releasing water it is most likely because it is needed down stream. Growing up on corp lakes I use a simple rule. If in shallow water (<10') and I don't know what's under me, drive slow. If I hit something it's my fault. The corp doesn't have the resources to monitor where junk is in the lake. I am sure they would great-fully accept monetary donations to aide in this endeavor though
