The thing about Lewisville Lake is it was impounded 3 times which make it a rather dangerous lake. You can think your out in the middle of the lake and your really just sitting in a forest or on a sandbar. There are three main channels to the lake. Lake Dallas was the original lake and is feed by the Elm fork of the trinity that comes from Ray Roberts. The pier 121 side of the lake is feed mostly by Stewart creek and this side of the lake is mostly clear. The north and west side of the channel was not cleared. The SC channel runs up the east/south side of that finger of the lake. I think this is where AllianceBJJ rides. The area behind 121 is really to low to ride and has sandbars every where now. There are a few places to watch for but it is the best part of the lake at its current level. The far west side under 35 is another channel and it was not cleared until a drought in the last ten years. Someone wanted a spot to ride and the cleared a bunch of trees that created a channel to ride back into the pilot knolls area. If you do not know this line do not go there. This lake is all about having someone show you the ins and outs.

We were surfing when it happened and the depth gage said 36ft of water under me! I'm just glad it was on the opposite side of the surfer. What if they would have hit it?

FunkyBunch is right; there are underwater forests in that lake.

Pokesgrad02, If I didn't have to pay $1,600 for a new port NSS, I would be happy send them a donation for buoys to mark underwater trees in 36' of water. But I understand the dilemma of floating debris.

Skicat, I believe have it marked on the GPS as way point and will send the coordinates when I get the boat back. If it was floating who knows where it is now. If not and if someone has a trolling motor and jon boat they can lend me, I'll try to put a ski buoy on it.

My wife was driving a friends brand new Super Sport years ago and hit something in about 15' of water. Turns out it was a loose tree trunk standing on end from the bottom of the lake, the top was about 18" underwater and we nailed it with the prop. Some times luck is not on our sides, but then again, my boat was anchored undamaged a few hundred yards away...so maybe luck was on my side. ;-)
