    NSS in disguise.

We were trying to find a boat for a customer when he came upon a deal he couldn't pass up. Needless to say the selling dealer (un named) botched up some things including the NSS installation. Improper placement and water leaks to beat the band. Mike gave us the opportunity to fix all of these issues and also add a little N3 flair to his rig. Here's what we did.. 2 tone NSS plates to match the hull scheme. I think it's the best look we have produced so far with a non covered NSS setup! Take a look see.

Nice job. Was not a fan of the NSS on 210 and 230s without the decorative cover. Looks like such an after thought. That job you did makes it look 100% better. Good job.

Thanks dude! That's kind of why we take that approach on so many. Most every boat that passes through unless the owner declines gets some color on the plates.

Zach, do you use paint, or powder coat? I would imagine a basic paint would easily get scratched.

When you say improper placement, what exactly was wrong about where they had installed it?

Paint D, Don't know what you should be putting around an NSS plate that would scratch it. Andrew, the placement of the plate assemblies were way off. They were basically running partially "extended" into the water as if you had NSS in operation when they were fully retracted. Incorrect sealant was used (black silicon) so it leaked badly from both sides. Anywho, the owner is a super nice guy and is super happy with the repairs but still trying with Nautique to get reparations for the problems. Of course the dealer tells Nautique the boat didn't leave the shop that way.....

I would think type 4 hard coat anodizing would be the way to go. Anyone have recommendations on who does this?

Zach, I was going to order the NSS for my 210 from my dealer this winter but you say I can order it with color? If not I do want it painted, what do you recommend for paint and prep? After seeing those pics I couldn't settle for anything less.

                    Thanks!

I think the NSS plates are stainless and thus can't be anodized. N3 painted those plates, they look great!

Sorry I missed this back then! You can't order it with color from Nautique. That's something we do. I don't know the specifics on prep. I think we just scuff it up use a good sealer primer and shoot color then clear.
