Hose Coming Off The Bottom Of The J Tube. . .?

I have a 351 Pro Boss that has had the Protec conversion done. There is a hose going from the bottom of the "J" tube (where the plug normally would be) up to the top of the motor. It hooks into a "T" where one end goes to the block and the other end is hooked to what appears to be some kind of sensor. Anyone know what this is?

Here are the photos. The first one is where the hose comes of the bottom of the "J" tube and the second is where it attached to the top of the block (you can see the distributor cap in the background).

I believe that is you temperature sensor n top of the T and the hose supplying hot water to your heater or shower. Most likely heater.

I was told the heater core went out and there was a bypass in place. . . I'm guessing that is the bypass and that normally the hose would go to the heater and not return to the J tube? Correct?

Yes. The top outlet would have been the heater hot water supply line and the lower in the J tube would have been the heater cold water supply line. What exactly do you need? If the heater is gone you can just get rid of the t and use some thread tape on the sensor back into the intake manifold and for the bottom of the J tube I can sell you one 1/4 NPT brass plug. The brass plug is removed from the J tube to drain that area during the winterization process.

Thanks Zach! I think I will just leave it how it is and pull the hose off the bottom of the J tube to winterize. That way if I ever get my heater core fixed I have a head start on putting everything back together.

Fixed it for you... heaters dont need a cold water supply. :P
