A Day on the River without Kids

First time in two years that my wife and I went out on our boat without kids and had an full adult day.

    Here is what happened:

    1) Trailer tongue hit license plate as I was getting hooked up (never happened before).
    2) I launched the boat without the center plug in (it has been about 10 years since I did that).
    3) Forgot the dry-suit.

Who knew not having the craziness of the kids would throw us off our game so much! Oh well, I still got in the water and had awesome rides and enjoyed a few good beers with some friends.

I guess the kids are good luck for you. Hope they never grow up and move out. Thanks for sharing.

Maybe you were distracted thinking about some of the planned sundeck activities.

that was my first impression, too. Definitely get you out of your routine.

Yeah, without the kids, we did not know what to do! All that FREEEEEEE time! I hate to disappoint, but no sundeck activities this time...

Funny, my youngest daughter's job is to ask "Dad... did you put the plug in?". She has saved me once last year. She asked in her teasing tone, assuming that I had put it in. And all of a sudden I push her out of the way and go diving for the back (the boat was already in the water at the dock!). I open the trap door to see a nice fountain. Got the plug in before anything happened, but wow.

She knows it's her job to ask me now. But yes, without the kids... seems weird. I have more days on the boat without my wife.

Best quote I ever heard at a boat ramp.
"Daddy, are the botado chips suppose to be floating in the back of the boat?"
