Need help on the right price for a 2012 Ski Nautique Super Air 230 Team Edition

    Hi everyone,

I was directed to this site by a buddy of mine who owns a ski nautique 210 and loves it. I wanted to thank everyone in advance for their help. I am a beginning boater with some small kids. I've been out on my buddies boat a few times and love it. It is awesome. My neighbor getting relocated to Texas for work and wants to sell 2012 super air 230 Team Edition fast. He is leaving in mid December. The engine is the standard 343 hp 5.7 L V8. It has a little over 80 hours on it. He bought the extended engine warranty so still has 8.5 years on the engine warranty 3 years on the hull. I don't have a picture yet, but he leaves it at the lake so doesn't have a dedicated picture of it right now. I've been on his boat several times. I can attest though that he keeps it meticulous. He's a little OCD about it. It has all the standard equipment plus:

-upgraded Polk audio amps and subwoofer
    - Painted hull - He paid 2500 extra for this
    - battery maintance system
    - mounted bimini tower
    - boat cover
    - tandem trailer with 20 inch wheels
    - docking lights
    - wakeboard racks
    - oversized ski mirror
    - waste receptable assembly
    -anchor

    - he would also include his wakeboard rope, kids wakeboard, wake surf board, wake surf rope, all the life jackets, safety equipment, inflatable tow raft, chill inflatable raft.

What is a fair price for me to pay for this boat? I appreciate all the help and advice. Thanks

Need to see some pics of it inside and out.... bling appeal plays a role in this.

The average range is 80-90k. Based on what you describe, dealers would be selling that boat 79-85 cash...trades complicate things. 3rd party private sale will be less.

If he wants to sell it fast... as within 2-4 weeks type of fast, private sale, no dealer...barring any damages or issues/suprises from an inspection and its as good as you describe... 70-75k will get it sold fast this time of year.

I'm not a fan of the 343 motor in the 230. If it is just going to be the fam riding around the lake, you will be ok. If you are going to weight it down, might want the 409

Thanks for the great advice. Here are some pics. No interior pics yet, but I have been on the boat a few weeks ago and it was spotless. Thanks

I don't want to start another "best motor" discussion, but I do agree with crad on the engine size and weighting. Great looking boat! I would imagine this boat would be in the 78-80k range. You can always make a low offer of 74k and let him counter your offer to see where he needs to be. If he really needs to sell soon and you state your serious buyer intentions, he shouldn't beat around the bush on what his needs are. I could be wrong, but I think the Polk equipment is standard except for the tower speakers. I was not a fan of the Polk sub and upgraded to the IB JL sub and boy what a difference it made. Also, keep in mind you will have to pay the $750 warranty transfer fee if you want to keep the warranty. Not sure if they will allow you to keep the extended warranty that he purchased. Maybe someone else will be able to elaborate more on this for you. You can bet he probably paid in the 87-90k new depending on how much custom work was done on the interior. Hope this helps you in your decisions.

My $0.02 on pricing for that 230/Excal should be about $75k. No Z5 nor NSS and the Excal are hits to his asking price. Good colors as long as the interior isn't a weird color combo, should be in the ball park.
As a side note with small kids in Arizona you're going to want the Z5 top because that Nautique Tower bimini doesn't provide that much coverage. A Z5 will cost you around $2-3k, I don't think you'll get much for selling the bimini that's on there, but worth asking the local dealer if they would provide a trade in credit towards the Z5.
Put an age on "small kids" as that would also have an impact on your thinking about the wakeboard wake. a 230 will need @ least 18mph for the wake to clean up, faster if you have a big crew on board. If they are just learning, then it's not a problem...

Sounds like the Excal won't impact your usage immediately, but as you and the kids get better you'll want additional ballast for wakeboarding (I don't use much over stock and the wake is plenty big!). When you go to resale, then the Excal will be an impact...

Good luck, nice looking boat there!
