hey guys/gals. I am new to the site and I am considering buying a new leftover 226. I am currently a malibu VLX owner and I was just looking tobget input on likes/dislikes etc. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance.

no. the 226 is split between the 216 and 236. The 236 is the same hull as the 230.

I don't know how many 226 owners there are on this site but if you tell us a little bit about how you plan to use the boat we might be able to be more helpful. I have never stepped foot on a 226 but I hear it is a great boat for cruising on rough water and that it also makes a very nice surf wave. I think it puts out a good slalom wake for a big v-drive and I have heard the wakeboard wake is good. I think the wakeboard wake is less steep and a little rampier than the traditional Nautique wake so it may be pretty comparable to the rampier wake on your VLX. If you are really into wakeboarding you may want to check out the 210 or 230 before making your decision. Hopefully some 226 owners can give you some first hand experience.

I have been in a couple 226. Nice boat. That said, Nautique is no longer building in 2014. Not much demand. I agree tell us how you are going to use it. The best deal today, might be a terrible deal when you go to sell it.

Also what motor is in the boat. I have driven both a 409 and 343. Little under powered with the 343 IMO. We didn't have any weight in the boat.

I have spent a weekend in a 226, and it is a nice boat. You certainly can't go wrong with the 210 Team though!

UofM...I've got a 2010 226 and love it...if you back out on the 210 and still have questions about the 226..let me know. Look up my previous posts to read some of my reviews. Either way..you can't go wrong with the Nautique. Good luck

you still haven't mentioned how you're going to use the boat. If it's pure wakeboarding, the 210 is your best bet. If you want a general use boat then the 226 is good, though the ski wake is questionable. As always, the recommendation is to try them first. Only you can tell what you want. But Kenv's above comment hits it on the mark: can't go wrong with Nautique.

Incidentally, I love my 211 and wouldn't trade it for anything else. But I am master of none and want an all around boat.

I am a lot of the same as you as far as the master of none goes. The 226 was sort of sold out from under me so that isn't an option unless I buy one from the texas area. That is hard for me to want to do since it is so far away.

one difference (major to some and irrelevant to others) is the crossovers 211, 216, 226, & 236 have a walk-thru to the platform. It minimizes the walking on the vinyl. It sounds minor but is one of the features I love.

Where are you? You haven't mentioned it (or a price range) but I know of a 2007 Team Edition 211 for sale here in NC. If your crew is typically less than 6-7 and doesn't get more than 10, this might be the boat for you.

There is a REAL nice 2011 226 for sale in the classified on here....69,900..but I know you said you would prefer new. If you like yellow, this is a GREAT looking boat. Posted by tylerk83
