Want to build a rear facing seat 2000 SAN210

As the title states, I would like to build a rear facing seat with back rest in my SAN 210. Has anyone done something like this? I feel that it may take up a good bit of room and the interior is already a bit tight, but I love the idea. The rear facing seat is one of my favorite features of the newer nautiques. I have looked for seats online that may fit. I may try and make my own seat. What is everyones thoughts, ideas, suggestions, experience? Thank you.

i suggest you get on a late model Nautique and look at and study one of the newer ones.

the one behind the driver on the Gs for example.... The backrest and the mounting brackets that accept the hold the tubes... I think could be mod'd to fit on an older boat. Call you dealer and ask them how much for one of those??? $400-600 I'd imagine if you went new... You could get your vinyl to match.

One of our friends built a double width version of a Nautique jump seat for their 05 210. They already had 2 jump seats and one usually went behind the driver. The double width one goes in the same spot but allows 2 people to sit side by side.

It is actually quite simple and works a treat. You can also pull it out if you want.

It might be pretty tight in a 210. I have a 09 230 SANTE and when the seat is in it takes up a lot of room and you have climb over ity. Go to a dealer and take some measurements and see how much space you have. I really don't even use mine to be honest.

I think Dave is right that it would be really tight in there if you just tried to add a rear facing seat in the middle of the boat like 07-13 230s. What condition is your interior in, mainly the seat bottoms in the main lounge? If it is due for replacement soon then I have an idea that might work. If you got creative you could probably mimic what was done in the 07-13 210s and make the rear seat bottom modular with a flip up back rest. That way when you have the seat in the rear facing position you will regain some leg room from the space created where the back seat bottom normally is. Good luck and be sure to post pics if you attempt this.

I to thought the reverse seat was a cool feature but 08s priced me out of the market. The owner of my boat threw in the jump seat after I purchased a used one for my 06 SAN. With multiple people I thought it would be key, it wasn't. With less people I thought people would like to sit and see, they didn't. I thought I was onto something but I can figure is the beam makes it feel cramped with too many options.
That said, I still feel this is a thread to watch and can see the value and appreciate the rear view seating.

I've thought about this for my 06 210 as well. It just seems way too cramped with the narrower beam on our boats. I am now thinking of custom making a seat with backrest to go right behind the drivers seat. Anyone done this before?

I love the reversible seat! Step over it? Yes but it's not that big a deal, you have to in the G also.

There has to be a way to just buy the brackets and seat from a newer 210 and mount them. Go to the dealer and see how they line up and if the side seats are the same.

I'd like to trade out the entire sun deck on my 2013 for the walk thru on the 2014. I'm still liking the older graphics and looks with the exception of the walk thru engine cover. Way slick! Miss that from my 200v.

MGS if you lose steam in building this, I have a gray factory jump seat that would work. $200
Baumet the jump seat fits perfectly behind the drivers seat...clean look and easily removable yet built solid.

If you want a temp solution to see if it is going to fit with your boat.... go to Walmart and buy a milk crate (in the storage area) as well as a folding bass boat seat (fishing department). The four screws on the seat work perfectly with the milk crate. You have a folding jump seat for less than $30. I actually made two of them and use then quite often. I have a 1999 SN and they are narrow enough to fit next to the engine. I can put two on a side (one in front of the other) for rear facing weight on the surfside. When I want to ski the course I lift them out and put them on my dock. They weight less than 10 pounds but can handle about 230. -Marc

I started on the seat when I was home for Christmas. I drew up the plans, and my father in law and uncle helped me cut all the wood. I am going to make two 12W x 12L x 6H boxes as bases for the seat. I used a 2x6 for 3 sides and I a 1x4 on the fourth side. I drilled a hole through the 1x4 and the seat base. Each hole will be approximately where the holes are on the 230 for the removable middle seat.
The goal is to have a removable seat that meshes well with the current seating. The base for the seat is 1/2 inch plywood. It is going to be 16x32. I think it will be more than enough room for one person and should fit two smaller individuals. I made the backrest of the seat longer as it will continue over the bench seat on the drivers side and lean up against the back of the drivers seat. I am going to attempt to make it a folding seat.
I still need to order hinges, foam, and vinyl. This is my first project of type. I haven't used many power tools since woodshop about 10 years ago in high school. I want it to be up to nautique standards, but my main goal is to complete the seat and have it work and be functional.
I have attached a few photos. I carpeted one of the bases tonight. I still need to put the screws in it. I am getting excited that my ideas are starting to come together and I think it should work well.

I have the bases put together. I also have the foam cut and the vinyl. I am just trying to decide whether I will sew the vinyl myself or have a shop assist me with it. Here is a pic of the seat on the bases, and a picture of the screws I put through the seat base that hold the seat to the bottom bases. The goal was for this seat to be easily removable. So far with the cost of wood, screws, foam and vinyl I am right around 100 dollars total.
