The seat is finally completed. I am pleased with it. It was my first major project and I made a few mistakes, but overall I am happy with the results. The seat is a really tight fit. I measured about 10 times, but with the foam being a little bigger than the wood base and the vinyl, it makes for a tight fit. Also, the hinges I used are on the outside of the seat so that makes for a squeeze.

I was able to place the seat in the boat today an take a few pictures. The SAN/Super Sport is a tight area to begin with and this seat takes up most of the main lounge. For reference I am 5'8 and I can stretch my legs straight out when sitting on the seat. I figure we can probably use the seat if our crew is 6 or less. One driving, 1 riding, 1-2 on the rear facing seat, 1 behind the driver, and one next to the driver. There is still seating in the bow so we could sit someone up there or maybe go up to seven for our crew. If we aren't going to be riding a ton or we need a little more room it takes less than a minute for one person to remove it.

      Final cost about 310 dollars:

      30 wood

      28 hinges

      30 harware

      41 vinyl

      48 foam (2*24*48 Backrest, 3*19*38 seat bottom)

130 for the vinyl shop to sew everything. (wanted to try to sew, but didnt want to ruin the wifes sewing machine and could not find one that was cost effective for this project.)

Sorry for the delay, I was having trouble uploading so I had to dig for my old camera.

That looks awesome. Does the whole thing lift out if you dont want to use it?

That looks great. 2 things immediately pop in mind:
1-The obvious reverse seating, I nearly paid 15k more for just that option when I weighed out buying 07 or newer as that was a HUGH plus in my eyes. Then I thought, typically I drive so if it became less of a big deal and thought there would have to be a way to make something.
2-The kids would love to be in there, not a lot of freeboard in the front "play pen."

Yes it does. It only takes a few minutes. If you look back through the posts, I think there is a picture of the two bases. The seat sits on top of those with a 4 inch screw on either end. I bought wings nuts because I thought I would have to tighten it down, but it is very stable just sitting on top.

Ha ha, the above is a pic of our boat! Since we bought it, the big jump seat has spent most of its time out of the boat as we only ride with a small crew. As previously mentioned in this thread the space is rather limited once the big seat is in the boat. We are going on holiday shortly and there will likely be a larger crew 8-10 peeps and I think that the big jump seat might get a bit more use then. :-)

Waketowake - have you sold it yet?
How did you build the seat?

                          Hi Oz,

We actually just purchased the boat recently.
I am not sure how the seat was built but I can send you some photos...
