I have been a long time Mastercraft owner and I am about to make the plunge and switch teams. I have sold my Mastercraft, a very sad day I must say, and have located a boat that has taken my breath away. A 2005 Ski Nautique 196 with the ZR6 motor. I am posting this because I am looking for some feedback about the boat and engine since I have never been a Correct Craft owner. Is the ZR6 a good engine? Is there anything I need to be concerned about? Any opinions on the way the engine is cooled? I am an avid barefooter and slalom skier and my boys are big wake boarders, is this the right boat? The boat has 504 hours on it. The owner is looking to get $30,000, is this a fair price? I want to pull the trigger on this boat but figured I would reach out one last time to see if I can get any last bit of dirt on this boat. Thank you....

In that price range you might be able to find something a few years newer, the 05' 196 with a ZR6 is a great boat however there were some changes that happened to the 196 in 06' & 07' that could be worth holding out for depending on your use. In 06' the Hydro Gate came out which essentially allows you to remove the hook from the hull this giving you a slightly better wake for board sports. Drive By wire was another add in 06' or 07' which is more compatible with the latest greatest GPS based speed control.

Regarding the 05' you are looking at, as mentioned, great boat and with the 375hp ZR6 you will have more then enough power to pull multiple footers. Have not really heard of any out of the ordinary problems with the closed cooling or any other aspect of the ZR6, at 500hrs hopefully cap rotor plugs have been replaced.
Tell me a little more about the boat, is it a Signature, Limited or Team Edition, which speed control, options, trailer, etc. 30k is a little on the high side IMO unless it is very well equipped.
Check out www.CorrectCraftFan.com in the reference section, there is a brochure there for 2005 which will give you some good info.

That is the Curmi's boat, and it should be in excellent condition. They are big time skiers and all around nice folks, and they used to be a CC dealer, if you are satisfied with the price, then I would purchase it.2005 Ski Nautique 206 SE, Acme 422, PP SG 8.0, ND Tower

Nice looking boat and from pics looks to be in great shape, great colors and motor, tower a big plus if you want one.
It's a Limited (Middle package) Looks like it has a heater, flip-up drivers seat (nice option), original Perfect Pass with the single line display, single axle Ram-Lin trailer (no spare tire?) and a non factory New Dimension tower.
ND towers are the next best thing to factory, PO probably spent 2.5k on that add. What's up with the trailer, looks like stern is a foot beyond the bunk ends, maybe just bow stop too far forward. Hours are just slightly above average (50x9=450).
Priced more in line with a 206 (Ski Nautique Open Bow) which is typically more expensive.
