Hope you guys are wrong. I think the g-23 is about 8'3" with tower down also. It sure doesn't look like the sides are as high in the 21.

If it doesn't clear a 8' door then thanks for nothing Nautique.... And rosewell the maker of the tower....


Funny a x-star and every other model in the MC line with the exception of power towers will fit in a 8' door....

Diamondback makes the towers on the G boats, not Roswell.

These are tall boats. It is necessary in order for them to hold all of the stock ballast and not take on water! There is a slight amount taken off of the height of the bow, but the rest is the same height as the G23, I believe.

By "fully ballasted", we are talking full stock ballast, correct? I did a test with the new 2014 G23 450 with the 17x17 prop and new tranny, and it still falls short of what the 550 can push by more than 1000 pounds.

550 takes 7 secs. 450 with 17x17 takes 8seconds. The best a 450 with the old tranny and a 2315 can do is 12 seconds. 14 secs on the OEM 2313. Huge improvement on the new tranny.


this is objective assessment... About as objective as guys like us can provide without special equipment. Before we started doing this there was no one providing feedback across the different engines that folks could see and make sense of to make informed decisions. Individual sac out methods are too subjective and anecdotal, changing the prop shaft angle etc. this locks most all variables except for the props and engines.


it doesn't perfectly translate into how much you can carry up to 23mph, but it gives you a great idea how much power you have under load with OEM ballast.

I'll stay with my current 2010 210, but do like they offer all the features on the 21.5ft boat. Did it have NSS and all that? would like to see some more images of the surf wave on both sides.

I was one of the people hoping they would make a g21. I really like the 200, but felt the eventual resale of anything not G would be pathetic in a few years. A 23 and 25 were wwwaaayyy more boat than I need so a g21 would have been great. Not at that price.

Doesn't follow mastercraft and start having so many different models that it makes it overly confusing, however at these prices and being a premium brand they are actually starting to be a semi-customized inboard manufacturer.

How about a true closed bow ski boat, about 19' 6" long? You could take what was learned with the Ski 200, and make a closed bow 19' 6" boat with an even better slalom wake than the 200.

The G series boats are not any more pricey than any other manufacturers high end wake boat. The other boats are shown with no options on there pricing. head to head same options the others are more expensive. There is no comparison on the G21 because there is no other boat like it!

Garage clearance will discourage many buyers in dry states. I find it hard to believe that Nautique could not get rid of a few inches of height if it were a priority (especially if the issue is how the tower folds as opposed to the windshield). In the past, I think Nautique ignored design elements geared to how boats are typically used in the west and southwest...so poor storage options through the 90s because Nautique figured everyone ran at a lake and had a dock (...remember the observer's seat on the 90s-2006 Sport/Air/SuperAir?...). Not figuring out how to fit under an 8' door is similar.

And the thinking that anyone who buys this boat can afford to modify their garage might be true at its most base level, but increasing the size of a garage door is not as easy as it sounds. For many, HOA rules prevent it. For even more, it'll look goofy. And for a bunch of others, it's impossible without a major rebuild because of a second story over the garage.

The obvious solution is for Nautique to prioritize fitting under an 8' door. I'm not in the market for a boat currently, but if I were I think this issue alone would eliminate the G21 from consideration. If I'm storing off-site anyway, I'd take a G23 unless the wake on the G21 is significantly better.

Funny they put the reversiable seat in the G21 and not the 210 and 230, can't remember if they are in the other G's

Agreed! I'm not trying to start a "bring back the 196" discussion, but it would be nice to have the option. Will all these wake boat options, I don't think offering 2 ski boats is too much to ask? I'm sure the marketing team would talk 200 cannibalization, or having records set behind their flagship, but tell me a G isn't taking SA sales. I also know they're financial decisions, but for skiers, introducing another wake boat to the fleet every year is far from exciting. I'm envious of you boarder/surfers for all you have to choose from...must be nice! I left being pumped to ski the new Prostar.

I agree. However, I always see people that want the 196 back as a budget boat. To me that is ludicrous. It needs to be something new.
I think it would be cool to see a second 3 event boat. I love how Nautique is always on the cutting edge of the market. It just saddens me that these announcements are very rarely for 3 event people. It seams like 80% of all the major announcements have to do with the wake boats.

The G series boats are amazing, just not for me. I do however enjoy being part of the family that is constantly innovating in every market it belongs to.

I anticipate that, outside of a big engine change (diesel maybe), the next "big thing" from Nautique would be something focused on the ski line of boats. What do I know though, I'm just a guy who's bored, trapped in the land of 10K FROZEN Lakes .
