01 SAN complete power loss while cruising??

Hi there! I have a 2001 Super Air. Last weekend, we went out for a run or two. On the way back to the ramp, Everything SHUT DOWN! Radio included. I entered my code on the keypad and everything started right back up with no issue. Little further across the lake it happened again. Same scenario. Any Ideas? I can probably eliminate fuel considering the gauges fail as well. Short? where do I start? The lake was pretty choppy which is whats leading me to thinking its a short.

    Thanks!!

Ditto what Ryan said. I've had that happen with a bump of the lanyard.

I had a similar issue this year on my 01 san. Mine was a corrode circuit breaker. The 3 red breakers next to the ecu - it was the top one. It was really hard to press to reset, so hard that I had to hit it with a screwdriver to get it to reset.

Swapped the breaker for a new one and been fine since.

Might not be the same as yours but worth a look.

        Good luck

I think hyparks is on the right track with some sort of electrical issue. If not one of the breakers check the battery cables for corrosion as well. I know on my 99 if the safety lanyard is disconnected you lose power to the fuel pump but all other electronics remain on but maybe 01s cut off everything?

Hope you get it sorted and post a follow up. Former mc had same issue and it was kill switch. Provided it didn't seem intermittent like it was starving for fuel, that is the first place to start.
good luck, electrical gremlins are no fun.

I'm sure my lanyard on my 01 san only kills the fuel pumps and not everything.

              I hate intermittent electrical faults!

Based on what was said about the electrical breaker connectivity.... Also Check the main grounding straps and connections on the engine and around be alternator.

several Malibu folks reporting loose grounding straps and getting issues similar.

Also check battery connections - especially the ground.

my 2000 san did that and it turned out to be two small glass fuses at the battery. They were plug together connections that wore out. They were pulling apart and losing connection and were melting. I soldered in new fuse connectors and never had the problem again.
