That makes more sense then. Whoever had the boat before you hardly used it all. That was a waste of money for them, but with your usage, having a boat makes sense.

I'm 41 with a wife but no kids. When I take out clients (including interns) on my 2000 SAN, they still love it. I don't think you are going to get any "no's" due to an 07 versus 2014 (unless the 07 is in bad shape, which I doubt it is). You get "no's" when people don't want to be on the water period. Ultimately, it is your choice. I will say that if I were going to buy a new Nautique today, I would go for a G21. I'd go for a G23 but for the fact that I wouldn't be able to tow it with my tow vehicle or maneuver it in my driveway. But, (a) while I could buy a G23 for cash today, my finanical priorities dictate against it (read, I'm too cheap), (b) I spent too much time upgrading my 2000 SAN to be able to part with it emotionally speaking (it almost killed me selling my 99 Air after all the work I did on it), and (c) my 2000 does everything I want it too beautifully, which mainly now is hydrofoiling.

Yes, fossil fuel exhaust fumes are dangerous. My point was it doesn't stink and the extra sensors got it running pretty good.

I've been on, in, and behind the G-23 a lot. Great boat, but we did find a shortfall. None of us noticed until the end of the year when my friend took a perspective buyer just out on the boat. Normally every time it pulls away someone is behind it and no other boat compares but it works just going out with a boat full cruising. It's big and heavy for just cruising, it can't be beat for surfing tho!

        Hi Tvaleri,
From what you have told us about your family, the 210 or the 230 would be your boats. I would not go for the G´s unless you are planning to do high level wakeboarding. The G´s are pro-wakeboats most of us cannot really "squeeze". Moreover, the G´s handling & consumption are probably poorer than 210/230´s due to weight & shape,
I agree it´s time to change our 220 because we can still get 40-45 k out of it. As a rule of thumb we will lose 5k per year now that are so many good models out there. Remember that for many years the only boat that could beat the 220 wake was the 230. Now there are all the G´s plus (presumably) the new 210, so I predict a faster depreciation of our 220.

I went to my local Nautique dealer today fully prepared to get the 210 for $46k out of pocket. They had a G23 in the showroom that was amazing, and it really got me thinking about the G21. Out of pocket jumps to a staggering $69k. I plan on getting out of boating in about 5 years, so purely from a financial standpoint, this is how I see it.

          210: Resale $86k x 70% = $60,200 - $46,000 (out of pocket) = $14,200 net cost for 5 years of use
          G21: Resale $109k x 75% = $81,750 - $69,000 (out of pocket) = $12,750 net cost for 5 years of use

Does this make sense? If it does, I still haven't figured out how to convince my wife.

i like your your thinking, if you've got $69 to drop comfortably go for it! Not sure the math really works but I'd say it was the same fuzzy algebra I used on my wife from the 2011 to the 2013!

Dont nut forget to tell her all the warranty and efficiency that comes with new.

Is the G21 really 109K? I thought that was MSRP. Regardless of what you get, you are more than welcome to bring it down to Arvin where I have a private lake membership and ride glass water all day! I vote G21. I could be in line to buy it from you in 5 years...

I would say that since you dont wakeboard you should get the 210. It will be an amazing boat for you and your family and you wont have to gamble with "five years from now resale". It is a nautique so it will hold its value very well. Convincing wives can lead to them caving in and resenting you for it.

                    tvaleri,

I have a G23 and it is an awesome boat so I'm sure the G21 will be as well. Here are a few things to consider in my opinion.

                    1) I recommend a large truck to tow a G series (you can tow a 210 with something much smaller)
                    2) A G will use probably 30% more fuel (heavy boat and you will need a bigger engine)
                    3) The 210 will be a better handling boat

We are primarily a wakeboard crew so we love the G series. However, I have learned that if I want to just be on the lake cruising, I would rather be in my previous 210.

I like your math about your net cost, but the $1450 you would save in net cost (in your equation) isn't a very good return on the initial extra $23k out of pocket. $23k invested somewhere else should be +$35k in 5 years. (which puts you at a total of $2k out of pocket)

Just some extra things to think about, although it sounds like you are already driving yourself crazy.

By the way, Can anybody provide some testing info from the 2014 210 ???. If you look at the dimensions, it´s wider, deeper, heavier and with far more factory ballast than the old ones so it should closer in performance to the 220´s

I just bought the 210! Cost was a factor, but more important was being honest with my requirements. I need a family boat, not a high performance competition boat. The 210 seemed to fit that mold better. Also, my tow vehicle is a 2012 Yukon Denali and I don't think it would pull the G21 very well. Although I do most of my boating 10 miles from my house, I also have a 2nd home in the mountains and getting to the lake there is a 5k foot climb. The transmission got to over 250 degrees pulling the 220, so I can't imagine pulling the G21 up there. I'm going to have buyer's remorse no matter what, but I think I made the right call.
