G23 hydraulic lift

Thought some G23 /25 owners may be interested in seeing this. I had a SunStream SunLift hydraulic boat lift (SL6) and we had to upgrade to an SL8 b/c the G23 is just too heavy. Here are some pics once we got it all in. Hydraulic lines are not yet tied down and some minor details to clean up but for anyone thinking about it, i can confirm it works well:

Looks good! I also like the graphicless sides on the G. I already have that planned for the 2014 PN G23.

Why don't you use an overhead hoist? I live on Lake Houston also, and the overhead hoist is the kind I use. I haven't seen anyone use this kind on our lake.

Well, it was meant to be tone on tone for the graphic but the black on the side of the boat matches so well to the graphic that its hard to see. In person you can see it but not in pictures. Too bad they didnt offer like a matte black graphic - would have shown up better.

I've had a hydraulic lift for 7 years now and love it. The overhead hoist takes quite a bit of time to raise and lower. I am down in about 7 seconds and up in about 20 seconds i think.

Plus it is remote control so I start lowering as I walk to the dock and when I pull in I can raise right away to catch the boat. very helpful in rough water.

Well unfortunately for the wallet the SL8 which is rated for 8k lbs is quite a bit more.

So yes in considering the post about the overhead hoist (which is prob 3k) the question that is bound to be asked is it worth so much extra money to just be so much faster up and down (and safety of no steel ropes breaking and your boat falling?) I guess my response is "Did i really need to sell my old boat, which was a great wakeboat, to get a G23 550 (which cost way more) just for a bigger, better wake and no effort to set up surfing?"

Gotcha. Yes, that's much faster than my lift. Although I don't have to worry about rough water because I'm not on the main body of the lake. You can do remote controls for the overhead hoists also.

How much water does it take for one of those? I'm guessing it requires a little more water than the overhead kind (I use a cradle - not straps).

This model doesnt take much water at all. I can put my prop into the mud if the water is low enough, so I thinking the min water depth is about the same as the draft on a normal wakeboat, say 25-30".

Where are you located on Lake Houston?

I love hydraulic lifts. I have used one for about 6 years now. I like the way there are no overhead anything, to take from the view out on to the lake. They are virtually maintenance free. Also, unless you need power to your dock for other things - it saves running power from your house (expensive). I will not use another cable lift again. My .02

Im in Indian Shores over in Crosby. Not sure if we've met. Last year or two I just go up early on the weekends and leave the river before it gets crowded and we surf mostly near the house. But I'm sure ill see you around this spring.

Here is a shot of Sunstream's Automatic Boat Cover (ABC). These work great. Especially since the city of Seattle doesn't allow canopies.

I picked up the 8k lift at the boat show last year for the price of a 6k. The are making a new cover soon for my new G25 soon to arrive.

Wow that's pretty slick. I dont see anything about it on their website. How much clearance above the boat does it need? Do you know how it holds up in high winds? Do you know how much the ABC retails for? Thanks in advance for all the info.

That's a smoking good price but i'm sure no freight helps.
