    226 or 210 or 230

I sold my offshore boat and I'm ready to get back to the Nautique family. This will be my 4th Nautique. We moved to a larger lake, I have 4 kids, and we enjoy the full spectrum of water sports from tubing, slaloming,
Boarding and I want to get into surfing.
Of the boats from the 226, 230, and 210 what will do the best for a little bit of everything, yet also have the best resale when I go to sell?
We like the 226 a lot, big, nice layout and can do a lot of things good but
Not one thing great. There aren't a lot out there and someone said they didn't sell overly well? However, it seems like a niche boat for the family.
The 210 and 230...well I know they are wakeboard machines and surfing boats.
I'm looking to spend $32-$45k on something used.
I have a lead a very nice 2004 226 with 300 hours and is immaculate. Probably get for around $30-$32k.

I appreciate any insight and suggestions.

You wont get much of a Slalom wake out of a 226 . The best choice of the three would be a 07 and up 210 but you will have to stretch your budget to get one.

Thanks. Will the 210 accommodate 6 of us plus friends and handle a larger water lake(ie- chop etc?) and have the higher sides? Like anything I get mixed opinions and feedback. I had a sv211 and IMHO it never felt
the same quality or size as my Air.

The 210 will handle 6+ IF the kids are all younger, if you've got some teenagers, then consider them adult sized, and the 6+ becomes tighter, do-able, but you will be pressed for room. Because you live on a lake, you won't have to drag everything with you, so if you're thinking 2 adults and 6 kids (even if teenagers), you'd be okay as long as you leave the tube at home, and go get it when you're ready. Even so, you'll need to have 2+ kids in the bow so people can get ready in the main cabin for next sets.

Of the three boats you listed; old 226, 210 and 230, the 210 is the only one you can get a decent slalom wake out of. If you're just looking to slalom and "cruise" you can ski behind any of them, if you're looking to make some hard cuts across the wake, even the 210 will not be even close to your old Air (if I read your post correctly).

Best wakesurf wake=230. 210 surfs pretty well (07+), difficult to get a surf wake behind a 226 (old hull)

Best wakeboard wake=debatable between the 210 & 230, I've ridden a lot behind both and prefer the 230, but the 210 will make an excellent wake, and if your kids are younger will provide a cleaner, smaller wake at lower speeds until they get their skills up. I've found on our 230, 18 is the slowest to get a clean wake, and that's with just me and the wife on board, any more people on board, the speed goes up for a clean wake.

Resale, my $0.02 is if you buy a 210 or 230 with good colors and good condition, you won't have any trouble with resale. I would say that a 230 w/ZR6 is the right combo. The 230 Excal will do everything ok, just resale will be harder. The 226 is a nice boat, but was never a very popular boat, and the resale prices suffered.

Big water ride=230 or 226. 210 will be a rough ride on a big lake.

Hope that helps, post up any other questions. good time to be buying now!

230, and give up serious slalom wakes (Unfortunately)... For what you are describing, I think you would be happy with an 08-09 230.... But your budget may need tweaking...

Out of all those I would recommend a 230 as well but your budget will need to increase.

Don't forget that the 230 hull was originally released in 07 as the 236. It is the same hull as the 230 that was released in 08. My old one sold last August for under 50k with tricked out trailer. Wetsounds stereo, loaded with low hrs and zr6

One more vote here for the 230 based on your size of group and potential for big water. Not a fan of the seating layout of the 226, and one the 230, you get full wrap around seating, and the step up to the sun pad walk thru.

If my outings had more than 6 in the boat I would go with a 2008 or later 230 due to increased storage and big water ride. However anything less than that the 210 is hard to beat.

Should you decide to look at the 210's I have one listed.

It is currently garaged and can be viewed.

That is super fair price. I would take that one if I was this guy.

What is the stigma against the 226's?

I don't think there's any bias against the 226, it's just that hull was just "ok" for most things, ie a true "crossover." You can get a decent wakeboard wake out of one, but you'll be putting alot of weight in it. See if you can find a PN member close to you that would take you out on a 226. If that hull will do what you want, then you can score a pretty good deal on one...

The 226 is a family boat, I purchased an 08 with 80 hrs on it (ZR6) low 40's. I ski open water, my kids wakeboard you can't beat this boat for what it was designed for, which is a family boat. Be realistic are you really tearing up the buoy course or doing flips over the wake, probably not. The walk through transom was designed for your teenagers and dogs who have the same level of awareness, neither one cares about your upholstery. You will not find a 230/236 for that price, trust me I looked, and the 210/211 is not a good boat for a big lake like Tahoe unless you don't like your Kidneys. Go with the 226 this boat eats chop, my kids think the wake is huge, the ski wake is fine if you don't mind catching a little air crossing, your a family guy I'm sure you know all about compromise.
