    All,
I just wanted to say thanks to AirTool, Mikeski and all the others that have offered help and kind words during this horrible time. Things are begining to turn around with the help of my GF/Wife and best friend. I could have never done this alone and am thankful to have all of you and family to support me. I am currently south of Madagascar headed to Walvis Bay, Namibia... then 6 hour drive through the African desert and brush, 22 hour flights (Germany then to Houston) and hopefully will be home soon.

I hope one day I can pay it forward
    Mike

Sorry to hear for your loss. I wish I was closer to TX to lend a hand- my wife and I call TX home and value how Texans stick together. I also know the feeling of being in the middle of an ocean and feeling helpless about things going on back at home.

Just a thought- If I were in your position I'd cut the transom off the boat before I sent it to be scrapped. Losing a boat to a fire is awful, but turning the transom into a bar sounds like a fitting end to a fine vessel!

Best idea yet!! Easier to keep until someone buys the motor and would make a wonderful commemoration to the gone but not forgotten.

Mike/Maxx - can you remind me again where the boat is exactly? not address but county or town?

And do you think the bearings are bad in the trailer? Probably the tires are shot/flat.

I just have some ideas of how to defer actions at a reasonable expense.

                Airtool and all,
They are working fast, most of the boat is stripped of the salvagable parts and a local mechanic is in the process of pulling the motor and trans. They should be done today or tomorrow.

                Airtool,

Okay noted...not so important now if your "strippers" have shown up.

Unrelated to helping with the engine pull:

I want one (or more) automatic bilge pumps with the factory (cc) plug installed. If the wiring harness is going to the trash, cut the boat-side plug off as far as you can away from the plug to leave a long pigtail.

I think you have two...but I only need one. You might want the other. If you don't, I'll take them both.

Well, the GF worked miracles... the boat is stripped of all salvageable parts and is laid to rest at the landfill. The salvage team is exhausted and most have to work tomorrow. GF is going to get an inventory of the parts and will fill the request of MikeSki, AirTool and others with pictures to send to them. Also, NautiqueJeff wrote an thread on SkiSafe and how professional the situation was handled, and I chimed in to give first hand information about SkiSafe. I have found another boat and will insure it with SkiSafe. I have 9 more days until I get off the ship and 2 more days of traveling to get home...
Thanks to all here on Planet Nautique for everything

Don't look if you have a weak stomach!

I just looked at a few pix Mike's GF sent of the boat, they were downright disturbing/sickening. She said she didn't even send them to Mike (DON'T LOOK MIKE).

Fires are interesting, the dash looks completely destroyed but the plastic driver's seat frame is intact? Anyway they have some nice salvage parts available including the motor/Vdrive/trans. I sure don't envy the guys that worked around the burned areas to pull parts. I didn't have the heart to ask about things located under the dash as that would have been NASTY to work around.

                            MikeSki,
Yeah, I did not look... I am sure it is terrible...I cannot imagine working in that mess. We have to move on, so today, we received the insurance check from SkiSafe. The old boat has been delivered to the landfill and all the salvageable parts are in storage until GF can get to inventory them and let everyone know. She was able to find a local mechanic to pull the engine and trans and is in the back of my truck. The trailer was salvageable, I think, so that is for sale too!! We put a deposit on a used boat, 2010 SAN 210 TE with 62 hours on it and a marine surveyor is going to inspect it this week. The dealership is 12hours away so we are planning a road trip as soon as I get home. Hopefully things will turn around... keeping fingers crossed...

Just a heads up, there was a memeber looking for a tower and a windshield and frame in the WTB section. If these parts are in good shape you may want to check there and see if you can make some more cash back.

I saw what you wrote and thank you very much. I contacted him and it looks like we will be able to make a deal. I will be traveling closer to him to pick up new boat, so I am planning on bringing the parts closer to him. Hopefully everything goes good with the deal. Thanks again
