Thinking of trading my 2011 maiibu g25

Thinking about trading in my 2011 Malibu 247 for a g25 , just wondering what you guys here think about the g25, I'll try and post a pick of the boat I'm looking at. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Do you need all that space? It's a big big boat, and you might as well plan on getting the big engine. I'd also recommend starting a thread over at theMalibucrew.com to get some opinions from the other side.

You don't need the 550 anymore with the introduction of the 2.0:1 reduction V drive. We stacked up a G23 450 with the 1.48:1 and a G 23 with a 409 2.0:1 and performance in every area was identical. Acceleration, top speed, ballasted acceleration to speed. A lot of our customers that boat on larger water opt for the G25 (which isn't many seeing we don't have water that big around here).

If the 409 with 2:1 performs like the 450 with standard vdrive, how does the 450 with 2:1 run? I was impressed wuth the performance of the G23 with 2:1 409 that I drove

We test surfed the new NSS on a G25. Its like a wakeboarding cruiser it cut through the chop like butter and the surf wake was money. My neighbor traded his 2012 247 in on a 2013 G23 last year and never looked back. If you want the best wakes , most storage and roomiest well thought out cabin then the G is the one.

How much ballast were you running, and to what speed did you climb too (wakeboarding or were you surfing)? I spent a few hours on a 2014 with the 450 (2:1 tranny and 17" prop), last fall, and found it to still fall quite short of what the 550 was able to handle (it was about 1000 pounds less of what the 550 could take up to wakeboarding speed).

But for stock ballast + up to 1500 pounds extra, I would agree that the 450 with the new tranny and 17" prop performs just as well as the 550.

              G23 550 runs 0-23mph with 2850 OEM ballast in about 7.5 seconds.

G23 450 with the 17" prop and new tranny with 2850 OEM ballast 0-23mph runs about 9 seconds from the testing that was reported last fall.

Put in this in comparision to a 450 G23 with the old tranny and the fastest 2315 prop, its 12 seconds with OEM ballast.

We need data on a 409 G23 17' prop new tranny with OEM ballast 0-23.

Oilers- I am a previous 247 rehab owner myself.... these boats are in a different class. You will not be dissapointed in performance or quality. Also, Nautique is run like a standup organization in every aspect. The reason I left Malibu is unethical dealers and unethical Malibu leadership... sleazy used car dealer type garbage across the board and no one would make things right.

It was to 23 with full ballast and one driver. There is a video on your youtube channel.

Under 7 seconds on my demo (three runs 6.9, 6.8, 6.9) with two people in the boat and fully loaded ballast. No rider.

posted under your other thread. I made same switch and would do it again in a heartbeat. I just don't think Bu makes a top quality product that can compare to the Nautique. Go for it!

Did you start time on launch and stop time on the speed control beep or by seeing 23 without speed control?

makes a difference, slightly slower times using the beep vs a non speed controlled launch.... But more objective and consistent measurements.....well As consistent as it can be

your times are a full 2 seconds off what was reported last fall. And I seriously doubt you'd outrun a 550 at 7.5 seconds... But who knows I could be wrong.

                        I just saw this^^^

its a lower cupped version of the 17" x 17" .105cup OEM prop....over the results swankster reported on the 450 17" above.... would likely result in even faster 0-23 times.

I thought there was a post at the end of the Summer on these values but I could not find it.

                              Trying to find the:

rpms at wakeboard speed with the 1.48 vs 2.0:1 transmissions with full stock ballast,

top end at WFT between the 1.48 vs 2.0:1 transmissions.

Thinking about switching my transmission in a 2013 G23 but I have no issue with my current hole shot since we do not run over stock ballast. But lower RPMs at wake speed with the same top end would be beneficial.
