    2011 Malibu 247 for 2014 G25

Here is the boat im looking at , a few questions I have is 1) how does the factory stereo sound ( Polk audio 6 speakers with sub) ? 2) is a 7500lb floe lift enough for this boat 3) any comments on the surf and wakeboard wake ? 4) Any issues that you guys have heard of with this boat and the 550 hp engine ( had some issues with my Malibu and the supercharged engine) ?

    Thanks

The wakeboard wake is really good for a 25ft boat with stock ballast. You really dont even need it bigger. I rode it with the Nautique rep and he said that the G23 wake was about 3 inches taller with stock ballast. I drove it with the 550 and it drove like a dream.

      1. OEM polk head unit is awesome. The sub is a joke, inboat 6.5s are weak.

      2. With a G25 you'll be right at 7-8000 lbs in the water without ballast.4

      3. Surf wake you will love. Will exceed the 247 capability and do it much easier and cleaner IMO, you'll want to do additional plumbed ballast.

      4. Nope. Indmar has QAQC problems with their Blown engines, not PCM. No reported or systemic issues. Endless power on the 550s.

I went from a 2011 247 with SC motor to a 2013 G25 with the SC motor. I too had some issues with the Indmar motor though I think they got resolved under warranty. You will love this switch if you make it. Only downside to the G25 relative to the 247 is handling. It does handle like a much larger/heavier boat which it is. Rough water ride is much better but it is not even remotely as nimble as the 247. That aside, the G25 rocks and in my mind is an infinitely better designed/built boat. I'm very happy after one year. I spent nearly $90K on my 247 and just didn't feel like it was made with the kind of quality or thoughtfulness that I really would have expected. Lots and lots of little things that just didn't seem right for that price. The G is built like it's carve out of a piece of granite and has much better features, layout and functionality. Lots of $$$ but if you can do it you will never look back.

I did rip the stock sound system out before ever getting the boat on the water (and before I ever listened to it so can't really compare). Well documented via posts here which I'm sure you can find.

Thanks bud appreciate you taking to the to help me decide , my biggest dislike is just that it rattles I hate vehicle that rattle and I just figured all boats do( as my first boat). Do you find it burns a lot more fuel that the supercharged 247 ? I spent just over 90k Canadian also but man I sure love the interior on the G's . What did you put in for a stereo?

            Thanks for everything

I think it does burn some more but I couldn't quantify it for you. NYryan probably can.

I'm with you on the rattles. I had a rattle in my dash, my windows would pinch the center section when in rough water from what I assume was hull flex and that would squeak like crazy if you had latched it closed together and it always seemed like there was a slight vibration in the driveline that I don't think should have been there. The G is rock solid.

On the stereo I left the head unit and replaced everything else. Wetsounds interior speakers, sub and 2 pairs of rev 10s with all news amps. It sounds awesome. Thread is here:

My 247 wasnt supercharged.... so i cant compare back to back like you are asking....but make no mistake a 550 G25 wil be a thirsty boats and the g25 is probrably 1500-2000lbs or so heavier than a 247. And carries much more ballast.

If you stick with 2850 OEM ballast you'll be in the 10-12gph range or so for water sports.

Start adding 1, 2, 3000lbs above the OEM 2850lb ballast and you will see higher than 15gph fuel rates.

We could probrably be more specific if you elaborate how you use your boat... what watersports, what size wakes / waves etc.
