That looks like the Prostar 214v interior. The boat actually looks like a 214v with pickle fork. Curious if it'll have an acceptable slalom wake. The 214 was sweet, along the lines of a 200v.'08 196LE (previous)

Personally, I am a little sad that $50,000 is considered budget. I am all for keeping up with the inflation of things, but the boat industry is leaps and bounds above inflation (and growing exponentially). I don't think I will ever buy a showroom new Natuique, the pricing has gotten out of hand.
Just look at this:

A 1 year old 196 was $28,000 in 2004.
I understand this is a ski boat, but the same concept applies. According the the government inflation calculator, that 28K is equivalent to 35K today. I don't think I can buy a 1 year old 200 for 35K...1997 Ski Nautique

I think another boat pricing issue is some people paying too close to retail, not realizing what could/should actually be paid. I've yet to see a used 2012 200 priced below what my brother paid for his new (ordered out, not sitting on the showroom floor btw).'08 196LE (previous)

I had a perfect regular cab 3/4 ton gasser Dodge 4x4. It stickered for 35,xxx back in 03. An identically equipped 12 truck was on a lot back in 12. I looked at it and thought wow that's a lot of money but I pulled out my old window sticker and saw what my truck stickered for basically 10 model years prior. The 12 was only 38,xxx identically equipped. Take a look at stick pricing of an 03 196 Vs. a 12 200. Yeahhhh.... given there is decent amount more tech that went into the 200 hull and some of the electronics/engine manufacturer up grades but goodness.Last edited by Zach@n3; 02-03-2014, 10:29 AM.Zach@n3boatworks.com

Im guessing that $28k '03 didnt last long back when it was a year and a half old. That price seems closer to what my buddy paid for his '99 around that time- 4 years and a hull generation older. That boat would have stickered for high 40's (dad's '03 196LE stickered for $48k), and (at least back then) typical new selling prices were about 12-15% below MSRP.1990 Ski Nautique

Good info Tim. I haven't been around new boat pricing much from back then but I was guessing typical 01-03 196 out the door price back when for a standard edition boat would have been between 35-38k. Seems as if the middle 90s were closer to the 25-28 range? Seems like roughly a 10k jump every 8-10 season?Zach@n3boatworks.com

To me it seems retails on just about every higher ticket item has gone up consistently throughout the years. The difference in the past 5 years or so seems, to me, that the a dollar just doesn't go as far. When I bought my '06 196, I made considerably less money, but was very comfortable buying the boat. The percentage of a 200 cost to my income now, is about the same as the '06 was at the time, but my dollar just went further in all other aspects of life back then.
I shouldn't say "only", but I thought retail on a 2010 200 was about 5% higher than an '09 196 (on comparable packages)?'08 196LE (previous)
