I was wandering which was the best year for the 210 sante between 2002 and 2006. What i mean is most reliable and build quality? Also how is fuel economy if you are only using stock ballast? I have a direct drive MC 190 and Im looking to upgrade to a true wakeboard boat. This will be my first Vdrive and from what i have read the 210 is one of the best boats ever built.

^ a couple posts down in that thread is a list of changes by year.
I think I burn 3-4 gal/hr with stock+400 in the walkway with a 330 excalibur. I think the gt40 is supposed to burn a bit less gas, but the last year it was available was 02.
Other than the digital gauges in the 02s, I don't think there's a big difference in build quality or reliability from 02-60.

Many argue that the 03' is the most desirable year for a few reasons. A new top deck that is a bit more squared off at the transom. Updated graphics and composite platform.
As far as transformation of boats. The hull was used from 95-06.
95/96 super sport - started it all with the 351 ford gt-40 engine with a v-drive. Wrap around seating and playpen bow area. These came with a two tone exterior with a white hull and top deck. Teak swim platform.
97/98 thicker two tone exterior colors
99 first ever Super Air Nautique. Came with flight control tower perfect pass and double ballast. This had a cursive hull decal. Slightly different top deck with cup holders in walk thru bow area.
2000/2001 SAN. New digital teleflex gauges and push button start and helm controls. New Large N decal. FCT2 tower used.
2002 SAN no more digital gauges. New wave decal on hull. Some were GT40 engines some were excalibur 330s.
2003 SAN. New top deck with more narrow gunnels and deeper floor for more interior space. Colored hull and top deck options. Triple ballast. Composite platform.
2004 SAN. New fct3 tower. Many did not like this tower.
2005 SAN. Back to the fct2 tower.
2006 SAN. New fct4 tower, swivel racks.

2002 already has a new top deck which is more square and a bit deeper. 2003 has the new gauges. 2004 has the less desirable tower. 2005 is a great boat. 2006 has the better ballast pumps and upgraded pp, but also a slightly bigger tower which allows stoffen boards racks.
I owned a 95-97-00-02-03-06 model years of the 210. Liked the 00 (we had no issues with keypad and gauges) and 06 the best. Gt40 was really a great engine, but the Excalibur was close. 4 gallons an hour with 5 people and an excellent wake.230 with ZR6 running on propane

I went from a PS 205 to a 06 SAN and spent all last year waffling which way to go. One thing that was somewhat uniquely on my radar was handling/performance. I know its not in your post but the 190 and 205 I spent all my time in were FUN to drive on a slow day or when you couldn't get a full crew. x10 and even a maristar were a MAJOR disappointment coming from the direct drive. I find the SAN to be pretty nimble for a V-drive. Again, maybe it's not a consideration of your's, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well my boat handles.
Also, when comparing similarly equipped boats of the big 3 and in that vintage,(again assuming you are looking around) I think you will be amazed at what Nautique brings in fit n finish, performance...subtle because they are all nice boats IMHO, but I couldn't be happier. I would never bash the others as I have spent my first 20 years in MC's, just good to hear opinions from all angles.
Good luck and enjoy the search!2006 210 TE

Personally I think 2003 is the best of those years... Mainly because that's what I have. As far as reliablilty and build quality I think all of them will be fairly equal. 2002 might be the least reliable just because of the problematic gauges. I guess you could argue that 2006 with the ballast puppies might cause issues burning up impellers, but that seems to be fixed now. I'm not a fan of the 2006 tower because it is so heavy in comparison to earlier years, but 2004 is by far the most displeasing to my eyes. 2006 has the best ballast setup with better pumping. The Excaliber engine has proven it's reliablity for 10 years now and I've never had an issue with mine. In all you can't go wrong with either boat from those years. Some may be more pleasing to your eyes, but price may offset that.Jason
